4. DESCRIPTION
• This mural was created on Wisma Sabah, taking up the entire
outer, is a depiction of the Kadazan God’s daughter, Huminodun, the
inspiration for the Harvest Festival beauty queen.
• Inspired by the colours of the Malaysian and Sabah flag, it is said
that the mural is to instill a sense of patriotic pride and unity.
• “That is the idea behind this whole campaign, to connect the country
and instill patriotic sentiments among the people,” Harold, an
architect by training.

1. NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION
• The woman is blowing of the harvested paddy from her hands
indicating that paddy is a form of culture

• The bright colours represents the Malaysian flag and Sabah flag.

• The woman represents the Harvest beauty queen an iconic history in
Sabah
• The colours used are symbolic to patriotism

• The paddy in her palms are a sign of prosperity and wealth

8. DESCRIPTION
• In this second mural. The word “BAH” is
the word that most commonly represents
the sabahans.
• “The ‘B’ in BAH also stands for ‘bagi-bagi’,
or the spirit of sharing, the ‘A’ stands for art
scene, and the ‘H’ represents Sabah’s
heritage.

• Focused on the 3 syllables “BAH”

• Inside the “B” you can see three hands meaning that Sabah,
Sarawak and Peninsula are rejoicing

• Inside “A” shows the strong culture here in Sabah – you can see
local Sabah motif there
4. CONNOTATIVE MEANING
• inside the “H” shows the rich nature found here, for example the
rafflesia flower and the proboscis monkey.

• In this third mural, local artists painted a
mural depicting mountain guide Mhd
Rizuan Kauhanin, who became the symbol
of Mount Kinabalu's unsung heroes for
their rescue efforts in the aftermath of the
Sabah’s Mount Kinabalu Earthquake

• Many think that the climber is a hero who has sacrificed his
life in order to save many lives

• We are focused on the climber carrying the boy on his back

• As you can see the climber is hunched from carrying the boy

• After the 40th day of the incident local artists
produce murals to remember those who has
gone and to honor the ones who have helped
in every possible and impossible way
• In this fourth mural the chosen mural is of a
hand holding a candle to represent the the
light shun onto the honoured ones. Even the
incident has passed, their deeds will always
be remembered.

• The candle represents light, it will always light up and remind

• The hand symbolizes the honour of the ones who have
