Wellness Program at Work is a nice power point presentation that explains how to start a low cost/high impact wellness program at work. Please share with your human resource departments.
1. Easy to Start…
WORKPLACE
Wellness Program
Great tips to get your
company moving in the
right direction
How to start a
low cost/high impact
wellness program!
2. Plant the seed
Let your employees know that you are
starting a wellness/walking program on a
specific date and time
Send reminder emails and texts every two
weeks or so.
Be sure to mention the incentives for
joining your wellness/walking program
3. Use a quality pedometer
A quality fitness tool will show your
employees that you care
Contrary to popular belief, a quality
pedometer or accelerometer can cost as
little as $2.00… or up to $20.00
Go to www.everybodyfit.com for ordering
information or to learn more
For a more personalized experience call
James Fogarty @ 860-305-3815 (he is our
resident expert) to discuss your program
4. Make the pedometer free
A free pedometer is the perfect way to
kick off your walking program
Employees will flock to get a free, high-
quality pedometer
In order to create a buzz, distribute a few
pedometers to employees prior to kicking
off walking program
5. The 10,000 Steps-a-day Program
Did you know…? The average person only
takes about 3,000 steps per day
The 10,000-Steps-a-day program has been
proven to be effective in raising the activity
level of employees
Ask the owner of EverybodyFit, LLC for a free,
custom-made 10,000 step program flyer for
your company… which is all your employees
will need to understand the program

6. Allow a break for walking
Giving your employees a 15-minute break to
take a walk will produce a happier workforce
Happier employees will produce a greater
return on investment
Only employees that wear their pedometers
may take the extra break
Assign a specific time for employees to take
the walking break everyday (such as 1:45-2:00)
7. Include bonus walks in the program
When a goal or milestone is met or an
important client has been landed, give
employees a bonus 20-minute freedom
walk instead of celebrating with fatty
foods or high calorie beverages
If you want to walk fast… walk alone, if you want
to walk far… walk together - African Proverb
8. Create weekend walkers
Traditionally weekend days are much less active
Reserve one weekend day a month for
employees to meet to take a walk or a hike
Allow employees to bring family
Be respectful of employees who wish to get away
on weekends by keeping the weekend walks
completely voluntary and with no pressure
9. Inform charity walkers
Notify your wellness/walking group of
upcoming charity events
A portion of your group may have a team
that is willing to participate
Providing notices of charity events is a
great way to enrich and expand the
wellness/walking program at work
