24. Today’sTakeaways
1. Just as the Syrophonecian woman was
an “outsider” to the promises of God, so
are we!
We, too, are wild olive branches grafted
into the natural olive tree (which is
Israel).
25. Today’sTakeaways
Romans 11:11
So I ask, did they (Israel) stumble in
order that they might fall? By no means!
Rather through their trespass salvation
has come to the Gentiles. . .
26. Today’sTakeaways
Romans 11:17-18
But if some of the branches were broken
off, and you (Gentiles), although a wild
olive shoot, were grafted in among the
others and now share in the nourishing
root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant
toward the branches. If you are,
remember it is not you who support the
root, but the root that supports you.
27. Today’sTakeaways
“Those of us who are of non-
Jewish descent need to remember
that we are wild olive branches
that have been grafted into the
tree of Israel. In terms of redemptive
history, we are the dogs. But because
the children refused the gift of the
Father, the Father gave that gift to us
who had no claim on it originally.”
28. Today’sTakeaways
“Would any of us trade in the
crumb of our salvation for
anything in this world?That
crumb is the pearl of great price.
Jesus gave it to the Syrophonecian
woman. He gives it to us, as well!”
(R. C. Sproul)
29. Today’sTakeaways
1. Just as the Syrophonecian woman was an
“outsider” to God’s promises, so are we!
We, too, are wild olive branches grafted
into the natural olive tree (which is Israel).
Always keep in mind, God owes us
NOTHING (except judgment); So, let us
humbly praise God for his generous
inclusion of us Gentiles into his family!
30. Today’sTakeaways
Beware of the sense of entitlement that
pervades our society! Instead, follow the
example of this Syrophonecian woman.
Don’t demand action from God;
rather humbly beg!
32. Today’sTakeaways
1 Corinthians 3:5-7
What then is Apollos? What is Paul?
Servants through whom you believed, as
the Lord assigned to each. I planted,
Apollos watered, but God gave the
growth. So neither he who plants nor he
who waters is anything, but only God
who gives the growth.
33. Today’sTakeaways
2. In healing the deaf man, Jesus gives
us a model for ministry:
- He looked (toward heaven)
- He sighed
- He touched
- He spoke
