For the first 10 year of my career, I was building automation systems, using hardware and software from various companies such as Fisher, Foxboro, Allen Bradley, Modicon, and General Electric. Instrumentation selection was a key part of these projects, too. Then I worked for 5 years managing automation projects and helped build a company around National Instruments hardware and software such as data acquisition hardware, PXI hardware, Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC), LabVIEW software, and TestStand software.
