Electronic Resource Management (ERM) encompasses a variety of practices and services that impact library staff and patrons. In this session, three panelists from the system vendor, subscription agent and academic library communities converge to discuss benefits and challenges of “three S’s” integral to ERM: systems, standards and subscriptions. This high-level overview is ideal for libraries that might be considering ERM solutions and existing ERM libraries that would benefit with an update on current developments.

In June 2012, Nate Hosburgh transitioned from managing Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery at Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne to Electronic Resources Librarian at Montana State University, Bozeman. Along with a dramatic shift in latitude, this was a shift into a different area of librarianship with unique challenges and a unique workflow. Nate hopes to share some of the experience he has gained so far as well as continue to learn from experienced professionals in the field through listservs, conferences, and other networking opportunities. Presentation given at the Mobius 2014 conference. This talk outlines paths collection management librarians can utilize to address the acquisitions and management of library materials. Collection managers have robust and extensive networks of talented colleagues, who help enrich and vitalize the daily operations and processes undertaken at any given library. Jill Emery will present ways in which collection managers can leverage these networks to enhance and create strategies to develop better information communication both within and outside the library. By becoming a network center, collection managers can create a dynamo effect that spreads out through the library organization as a whole.
