Bridge, Sensor and Tag Hardware Updates
It’s time to refresh the Real‐time Location System (RTLS) hardware at
our facility! The Awarepoint RTLS system helps all employees, from
Clinical Technology to the Nursing Staff, perform temperature
monitoring and find necessary equipment in a more efficient manner.
What to expect:
Over the next few weeks, you will see technicians from Awarepoint
throughout our facility replacing existing hardware with new
equipment, including:
RTLS sensors currently connected to electrical outlets
RTLS bridges currently connected to Ethernet ports
Tags on existing equipment such as IV pumps
Note: Technicians will also be adding tags to other equipment that
was not previously tagged. Technicians will be identifiable by
Awarepoint uniforms and name badges.
Specific room types involved may include: Patient Rooms, Clean
Utility Rooms, Dirty Utility Rooms, Storage Rooms, Operating Rooms
and Lobbies.
Overall experience:
The installation process is non‐invasive, but technicians will
need access to the aforementioned rooms in order to deploy the
Awarepoint equipment. We appreciate your assistance in expediting
the process!

Bed & Bay Sensor
Delivers greater accuracy for close proximity bed spaces
The Awarepoint Bed and Bay Sensor delivers the high degree of precision needed to accurately track patient
and caregiver interactions in care areas with tight bed spacing -- Emergency Departments, Post-Anesthesia
Care, and other small spaces measuring nine feet to center. This level of accuracy is important for:
-Capturing hard data for calculating Critical Care time by physicians for billing
-Capturing actual Respiratory Therapy treatment times for charge capture
-Documenting caregiver time at the bedside for acuity calculation and productivity
-Driving workflow based on clinician interactions and plans of care to expedite patient throughput
-Verifying clinician interactions with patients in the case of legal action
The bed and bay sensor is part of the ZigBee-based infrastructure that routes data from RTLS tags on patients,

S2C Passthru Power Adapter
Optimize access to power sources
The S2C Passthru is a medical grade power adapter that allows the S2C sensor to operate without con-
suming an electrical outlet. The Passthru powers the S2C sensor, preserving the existing power outlets
for other uses. The Passthru is completely passive, containing no active circuitry.

that meets or exceeds the static and drop force holding requirements for hospital grade outlets
› The plug side of the Passthru uses solid nickel plate blades, meeting hospital grade requirements
for plugs
› May be used for both standard ground-on-top and ground-on-bottom outlet configurations

S2 & S2C Sensors
Customized network coverage based on workflow needs
The S2 and S2C sensors serve a critical role in the ZigBee-based 802.15.4 wireless mesh network for
Awarepoint’s real-time location system solution, providing enterprise-wide wireless coverage that drives asset
management, patient throughput and clinical workflow.
Unlike most location technologies, the Awarepoint wireless infrastructure and location algorithms use peer-
to-peer and multi-point communications to deliver the industry’s most accurate indoor, enterprise-wide RTLS
infrastructure. The S2 and S2C sensors are integral parts of the self-healing, self-calibrating network that stays
optimally tuned to provide consistent, redundant connectivity that yields the highest-quality location resolution.
Awarepoint offers two types of network sensors to address differing workflow requirements:
S2: Yields 1-3 meter location resolution; is used for basic asset tracking throughout a large facility at
minimum cost
S2C: Provides room-level resolution; is used to track movement of tags into, and out of a localized area.
Room level resolution is important in:
- Recording the entry and exit of caregivers in patient rooms for applications such as nurse call systems,
smart rooms and documentation systems
- Managing equipment PAR levels in clean and soiled utility rooms
› No need to run cables, open walls, or disturb ceiling tiles. Sensors simply plug into electrical outlets.
Key Advantages
› Patented optimization algorithms accurately calculate location, status & movement of people & resources
› Self-sustaining network continuously checks for optimal network performance and automatically adjusts its
configuration based on environmental conditions
› Delivers data to aware360°Suite which provides sophisticated alerting, reporting & workflow optimization

Asset Tag
Manage Equipment Location and Status with Ease
Awarepoint’s T2A real-time location system (RTLS) tag helps clinicians and other hospital personnel locate and
monitor the movement and status of a variety of equipment across the organization. Awarepoint’s workflow au-
tomation suite keeps materials management staff informed of equipment cleaning needs, helps biomedical staff
locate items in need of service, and prevents clinical staff from wasting time searching for needed equipment.
Additionally, logging information helps administrators understand the length of time that assets spend with the
caregiver and/or patient, and at what location.
The T2A tags are secured to equipment or devices and broadcast low-power radio messages on a regular basis.
How the T2A Works
The tags provide precise information about the equipment including current location and mobility status
(stationary or in transit). Staff members can view location and status information on a facility map or in a table
format from any computer.
› Easily attaches to a variety of assets
Key Advantages
› Communicates asset location on regular intervals
› Provides time-stamped data for alerts, notifications and other communications

Environmental Tag
Continuous Temperature Monitoring Accuracy
Compliance with temperature monitoring poses a significant challenge for most departments across a
hospital organization. Awarepoint’s environmental monitoring solution simplifies the temperature man-
agement process by incorporating the latest advances in temperature-sensing technologies. The solution
provides reliable data logging which is used to drive real time 24/7 alerts, and reporting that is accessible
through the computer network.
A T3E tag may be applied to mobile or stationary devices and operates under a wide range of temperature

conditions. The tag transmits a temperature to the network at a predetermined interval (established by the
organization), and sends real-time alerts for out-of-range situations. The system can be configured to provide
advanced notification of devices that are about to go out of range, as well as those that have fallen out of the
configured compliance boundaries.
› Centralize online documentation & facilitate enterprise-wide access to data
Key Advantages
› Temperature data is stored in case of enterprise power disruption; data stored during power disruption is
automatically transmitted when power is restored
› Track mobile devices for compliance while in transit
› Outstanding temperature accuracy

Wearable Tag
Observe Patient Flow with Ease
To truly drive workflow, your real-time location system (RTLS) must meet the rigorous demands of clinicians
including location accuracy and functionality. Awarepoint recently introduced the first interaction-detection
wearable tag to the market. The T3W provides tag-to-tag proximity detection that helps organizations capture
caregiver-patient interaction. The ability to interface these data with an electronic medical record or nurse call
system, or simply use Awarepoint’s aware360°Suite, can reduce caregiver time spent documenting. Additionally,
new information about caregiver time spent with patients and devices, or event-specific timing is available.
T3W tags are worn by caregivers and broadcast low-power radio messages on a regular basis. When a T3W

tag enters the proximity of another tag and the surface is depressed by the caregiver, an event is triggered and
communicated to the software suite; trigger information includes tag identification, location and time stamp.
› Easily attaches to ID badge lanyards
Key Advantages
› Records response times to nurse call systems
› Minimizes data entry and time stamp documentation
› Records caregiver-patient interactions with each other and with tagged devices
