Bondage
Gal 4:1-3 NKJV Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does
not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, (2) but is under
guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. (3) Even
so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of
the world.
1. Both Children and Slaves are held in bondage.
2. There are milestones a child must reach to
achieve full freedom.
3. In a spiritual sense we are limited until we
reach maturity.

Heb 5:12-14 NKJV For though by this time you ought to be teachers,
you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of
God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. (13) For
everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of
righteousness, for he is a babe. (14) But solid food belongs to those
who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses
exercised to discern both good and evil.
Heb 6:1-2 NKJV Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary
principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the
foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, (2)
of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the
dead, and of eternal judgment.

2Pe 3:9-12 NKJV The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as
some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any
should perish but that all should come to repentance. (10) But the day
of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will
pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent
heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (11)
Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of
persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, (12) looking for
and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the
heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with
fervent heat?

7. Gal 4:4-5 NKJV But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent
forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, (5) to redeem those
who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Redeem – exagorazō : to pay the ransom
1Co 7:23 NKJV You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of
men.
Heb 12:2 NKJV looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,
who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the
shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Would we not do the same for family?

8. God wants us as sons.
1. We must be separate from the world; John 17:17
2. 2Co 6:17-18 NKJV Therefore "COME OUT FROM AMONG
THEM AND BE SEPARATE, SAYS THE LORD. DO NOT TOUCH
WHAT IS UNCLEAN, AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU." (18) "I
WILL BE A FATHER TO YOU, AND YOU SHALL BE MY SONS
AND DAUGHTERS, SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY."

Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, (6) to the
praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the
Beloved. (7) In Him we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

1. We are sons of God through faith; Galatians 3:26, 27.
2. We have a special relationship with God; a slave was not allowed to
call his master, “Abba.”
3. We ARE heirs of the promise; first made to Abraham, Gen. 12.
4. Mat 25:34 NKJV Then the King will say to those on His right hand,
'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world:

1. He chose to adopt us – Let us act like sons.
2. Our adoption was paid for by the blood of Christ; John 3:16, 17.
