Re: Formal Benefit Dinner in support of Surf Chaplaincy
Dear Friends,
On Saturday, September 17th, 2011, Christian Surfers United States will hold a formal Benefit
Dinner at the San Clemente Community Center. The benefit will include guest speakers and
silent and live auctions featuring products and gift certificates from local businesses as well as
trips and sporting packages. The proceeds will benefit Surf Chaplaincy, a service provided by
Christian Surfers for the professional surfing community in the US and worldwide.
We need your help to make this event a success and kindly ask you to consider donating an item
for the gift baskets, silent and/or live auctions. All donations are tax-deductible and will be
noted in the auction brochure. The brochure contains a comprehensive list of each item donated
and is therefore read carefully by each attendee. Please feel free to provide any further
advertising fliers or vouchers, which will be included in the welcome packs for every attendee.
While CSUS is a non-profit organization (tax ID# 77-01031658) with chapters across the United
States, our event will be held here in Southern California, coinciding with the start of the Hurley
Pro at Trestles, CA. With its gorgeous beaches and world-class waves, Orange County is a
popular destination for surfers and tourists. Christian Surfers seeks to be a positive influence in
the surf community, which we believe drives the culture of America as a whole (check out how
many advertisements use surfing). We help combat many of the negative consequences that
come from the typical surfer’s lifestyle. Over the last 3 years we have been privileged to provide
the resource of Chaplaincy to surfing’s World Tour and have served the ASP (Association of
Surfriding Professionals) at many of their contests and events.
As the chaplaincy is voluntary and entirely self-funded, this event will be key in assisting the
various chaplains to continue in their roles on tour. This, we hope, will be the first of what is to
become a very successful annual fundraising event.
Gift certificates and other items may be mailed to Lyle Castellaw c/o George Yang at 2903
Estribo, San Clemente, CA 92673. If items need to be picked up, please contact George Yang at
(949) 500-4330 for arrangements to do so.
Thank you in advance for your consideration,
Lyle Castellaw
Chairman of the Board, CSUS
