What is an orchestra

  1. In ancient Egypt, musicians would come together at social gatherings to play music together.
  2. In the western world, orchestra were first seen during the time of the greeks. In their theatres, they would use what they called “the pit” to have the musicians playing music for their plays to sit.
  3. Leader of the orchestra and he carries a stick called the baton.
  4. Largest section of the orchestra. These instruments are playing by using a bow or by plucking the strings.
  5. The violin the smallest of the string instruments.
  6. These instruments make sounds by being blown into and by pressing fingers on different holes.
  7. These group is known as the brass because the instruments used are made out of shiny brass.
  8. The biggest of the families since it has the most instruments in it. Anything that can be hit to make music is in this section.
