3. Where to Start?
• Research, research, and more research
• Keep looking every where that you can
• Sites like indeed.com or
careerbuilder.com list internships within a
particular city of your choice and email
you updates and you can apply and post
your resume.
• Search different companies of your
interest, you never know if they may have
an intern position.
4. Prepare!
• Once you find your internship look over
everything!
• Do the necessary paperwork and orientation.
• Keep in mind most have deadlines so get them
done ASAP! You don’t want to miss out on any
hours.
• Don’t worry if your internship isn’t somewhere
where you can your career to be.
• You just might get valuable experience and get
to know some amazing people along the way!
5. Internship Experience: What I
Learned
• Don’t take it for granted; Enjoy every
minute!
• Help in anyway possible and always get
things done on or before the deadline.
• Be professional in both demeanor and
dress.
• Get to know the team you’re working with
• You may meet some people that will
mentor you throughout your career or
potential references for future jobs!
6. What I Learned
• If I could go back I would have started
this process and researched it before I
signed up on Louie.
• I applied for Scottsdale Healthcare in
February and heard I got the internship
toward the end of April.
• Was difficult to get everything done in a
timely manner.
• I was motivated and driven to do my best
though and ultimately was able to get all
of my requirements!
7. If I could do this all over again…
• I would start early and really seek out where I
wanted to be.
• I would have taken the time to really enjoy the
journey.
• I would have soaked up everything that I
could’ve learned from everyone and get
more involved on certain projects that
sparked my interest (i.e. HeartMath (stress
management), Nibbles of Nutrition Class, etc).
• Ultimately, I would love to do it all over again,
it was a great experience to work with the
team at Scottsdale Healthcare Community
Health Department.
8. • This internship experience has been very
meaningful.
• It’s showed me professionalism, teamwork, and
dedication to a job.
• Everyone that interned with went above and
beyond their role in order to help each other and
the community.
• The dedication and passion behind their work
inspires me to be that way in the future and to strive
to find a job that allows me to do so.
9. Enjoy the Journey!
• It may be stressful at times especially
when you come to the fork in the road
and you have the right path…
• Take a deep breath and take the one
that matters most to you
• And most of all enjoy every step! Life
tends to happen pretty fast sometimes.
