acceptance criteria.
☞Project scope statement will act as the
primary tool for stakeholders and
teammates to refer back to and use as a
guideline to accurately measure project
success.

The most elementary way to understand
the Project Scope Statement is that it tells
you what work you are and are not going
to do as part of the project.
Example: NHA Government Employee
Housing Program (GEHP)

Scope Statement
• It helps the stakeholders
understand the project and
product scope.
• It reduces the chances of
scope creep at later
stages.
• It helps the project
manager develop the
project plan effortlessly.
• Assists in
developing project
baselines.

This is the product your project
is setting out to achieve.
- It could be a physical product, a service, an
improvement or some other
outcome.
- This section of the scope statement briefly
describes the product of the end result of the
project.

Describes what you are not
going to deliver as part of the
project.
As mention earlier, you are not
expected to document that you
are going to develop a car.
Example: Decent and
Affordable Housing for Gov’t.

DELIVERABLES
This could be a simple list of what you are not going to deliver
as part of the project.
This list should be as exhaustive as possible.
Ex. 2 Storey Duplex type w/ open garage, 2 bedrooms and 2
CR

9. ACCEPTANCE
CRITERIA
Since we are talking about what you would
deliver as part of the project (and what you
wouldn’t), it is only fitting that we include a
brief about projects acceptance criteria.
What will satisfy the customer or end user
for project completion.
Ex. Fully accepted by inspection &
acceptance report w/ punch listing.

around the Project Scope Statement and
the Requirements Documents, the main
key is:
• Project Scope Statement – talks about
how are you going to achieve the work or
project.
• Requirement Document-simply talk
about what you need or what is your
requirement about the project
