Retired Director of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement after 31 years with the City of San Jose. I lead the department through the Great Recession and back out into a roaring period of economic growth. I am the Chair of the City Planning and Management Division for the American Planning Association where our focus is on the management and operation of planning agencies of all sizes in the country. I am also leading a national project The Planning Agency of the Future looking at what planning agencies should be considering in their structure, staffing and focus.
