A2 Music Video Evaluation

2. Using blogger was creating a
visual journey of my project as it
happened in real time. I did this
through easily adding
images, editing text, embedding
videos from sites such as
YouTube, which shows the
convergence of two media
technologies coming together.
Overall, I think that the online
software has driven the
project and be successful in
terms of developing and
sharing my ideas in visual
ways.

3. Survey Monkey was a valuable tool in which to
interact with my target audience. It was able to let
me collect large quantities of data very quickly and
efficiently allowing more time for me to take on board
comments during the pre-production stage without
losing time. The survey was carried out online and in
paper form at the video-showing, however I was able
to get many more opinions using the online
technologies.
Distribution on social media such as Facebook and
Twitter was a very important stage to reach the
audience prior to filming.

4. Youtube was a very useful source
of media texts (videos) of which I
used to help inform and inspire my
production. Locating videos and
embedding them on my blog
added to this in a technologically
visual way and brought
convergence to online media that
I used.

5. For my AS task to create the thriller
opening I created a simulation of
the shots we were going to take in
the bus depot using a bus
simulation software.
For my A2 task, I wasn't to create
the same thing using shots at an
airfield simulation. However this
wasn't possible and I ended up go
back to pen and paper.
Technologies were not particularly
a big part of my planning stages.

6. When filming at the aerodrome it
was essential to get the highest
quality footage I could get as
possible. To do this I needed to know
how the camera operated and
through development over the
course I was able to learn about it.
A big factor was ensuring the white
balance was correct which in turn
produced higher quality shots. Using the wide angle lens on the
Canon X1H1 was perfect for the
location as I wanted to capture as
much footage in the frame of the
airport to enhance the location.
Angles of shots were important as this
kept the multiple viewing audiences
interested as some may have found
the location repetitive.
Using low/high angle
shots, panning, tracking and more
importantly close up and back up
shots.

7. Using Adobe Premiere Pro gave
me the ability to import footage
straight into the software and edit.
Learning new features to enhance
music videos was a bonus as I
gave me the ability to explore new
areas of the software that I hadn't
used before, for example
changing the colour setting or
speeding up and slowing down
footage.
What was more important was to
learn about visual effects. A scene
in the video where the musicians
became planes was important to
make them look a bit silly and that
what they were imitating was bad
– i.e. The film was to oppose and
discuss opinions about flying on
planes.

8. Using CorelDraw I was able to
create the digipak to exactly what I
saw in my mind through its ease of
use. Combing text and image was
very simple and got a very accurate
result of what my idea was.

9. Creating the bands website
using ‘Wix.com’ was an
excellent software to use.
Having prior experience also
helped me. I felt that I was
able to make connections
between the whole ‘natural V.
Man’ feel to my media texts.

11. Being able to upload my video
to Youtube as a new media
technology opened up my
work to the world. I received
comments saying that people
liked it and some that
didn't, and also was able to
see likes and dislikes with the
ability to put thumbs up or
down.
Seeing these comments
helped me evaluate my work
and how I could do things
differently or change things.
Using programs such as Prezi
are much more interactive
however take a lot longer to
produce. I felt that a mix
between different
technologies was necessary.
