Once the programme has been designed, the procurement is underway,
there is still a need to make sure the solution delivers. Making new
technology usable can open up huge opportunities for savings.
Air Engineering
Sometimes the timing of programmes makes it hard to know
if technologies will work together. The UK MOD was developing
a new missile to be carried on the future Typhoon aircraft.
Both were under simultaneous development. The risk was
that integrating the missile onto the platform could impact
both programmes. We have people who know how to address
complex technical challenges. We were able to test the new
missile on an in-service aircraft – a Tornado – and plan a
workable integration strategy, mitigating risks.
