The document summarizes the new 2005 revised hours-of-service regulations for commercial motor vehicle drivers. Key changes include allowing drivers to split their required 10 hours off duty into two periods if one is at least 2 hours, excluding one sleeper berth period from the 14-hour driving window, and adding short haul exceptions for property-carrying vehicles within a 150 air mile radius. The regulations aim to balance safety and flexibility based on new scientific research and legal challenges to previous rules.
