But the person who prophesies speaks to people for edification, encouragement, and consolation.
The root of the word translated as prophecy means to cause to shine or to bring forth. Prophecy is a supernatural gift that enables a person with this gift to cause the Word of God to shine forth in a special way.
Prophecy can be defined as declaring the truth. People with this gift declare the truth of God’s word. Like all the spiritual gifts, it is very special. If this is your gift, it is a gift from God.
