Drugs have always been a big part of our society. Many issues arise with whether or not some of
them should be legalized for medication purposes or if they all should just be kept as illegal.
Drugs are a very interesting topic to learn about and discuss. There is so many things that people
don't know and maybe they should. Not everyone is aware of all the risks or what can happen to
you if you get caught with them. If you're ready to hear about five illegal drugs, then I'm ready to

That almost sounds like a good drug for people who want to lose weight and meet new people.

Drugs are a Problem
Drugs, it all began in the 1970s. Hippies with their shrooms and weed covered the United States
higher than the Empire State Building. After the Vietnam War, soldiers came back with all kinds
of drugs, weed was the most common one. The veterans liked weed the most because it helped
with their PTSD. Ever since the "Hippie Age" drugs have been a problem. Marijuana is said to be
a gateway drug and part of that statement is true. However there are darker drugs out there, worse
than shrooms, marijuana, and a majority of opiates. These drugs need to be stopped at all costs to
save our country and our children.

Cocaine is an interesting drug it has two different forms. There is the powdered version of it
known as "Blow or Coke," and there is the other version, which is even worse than the powdered
version, crack known as "Crack or Rock." College students are prone to encounter powdered
cocaine, to be highly illegal, it gets around pretty easily. An average of 14% of adults have tried

laws that aren't obvious to the general public, and there are benefits that could come with tossing out
our current consequences. Legalizing possession and use of controlled substances could make for a
reduction of our current drug epidemic, solve issues with overcrowded prisons, and help drug addicts
to receive treatment. Current laws that criminalize possession and use of controlled substances have
proven to be ineffective when it comes to eliminating the drug epidemic. Our laws do not prevent
citizens from getting their hands on controlled substances; they only hand out consequences when a
person is found in possession or while using said substance. An immense amount of time and money
has been dumped into the U.S war on drugs and antidrug campaigns for decades in an attempt to
significantly reduce the supply and demand of common controlled substances. However the attempts
have backfired to an extent, Pierre–Arnaud Chouvy, a specialist in drug research internationally
affirms that "prohibition has created the world's most lucrative illicit market for some
psychoactive substances and encouraged their production" (Chouvy, 2012). So it is safe to say
that our war on drugs has not only been ineffective, but has actually pushed for a busy black
market. How? People are not afraid to do some dirty work and take risks for the profit that comes
from drug trafficking. Not to mention with the increase of business came an increase of violence in

In the article "Drugs" by Gore Vidal the author claims that if the United States wants to stop most
drug addiction, crimes, value of the product. Then they should simply make all drugs available and
sell them at cost. The first strategy the authors addresses is that if drugs were to be available to
everybody then it will stop most drug addiction. The author claims that if drugs were to be sold
there would be regulations towards having this allowed. For example, the people who are mentally
ill will not be able to consume the product, because it will attract an addiction towards them and that
is what they are trying to avoid. For those who are not mentally ill will be able to use the product.

Marijuana can distort perception which may leave you unable to hear properly, see properly and
may make you lose track of time, also it can make you feel anxiety, fear, distrust and make you panic.
Cocaine changes numerous aspects of the body it can dilate your pupils, increase body temperature
and increase heart rate and blood pressure. In the long term it can cause irregular heart attacks, chest
