Spending Time With My Family
Spending time with my Family during the weekends
The most important thing for me in my life is my family. Although we are separated during the
week, we would hardly see each other. Deep down, they are the reason why I look forward to
Fridays and Sundays. These days are not Just any ordinary day for my family because we get to
come to gather and have fun we bond as any other normal family dose. Another reason why my
family is important to me is because my mother is my motivation to finish the week she is the first
person I see in the morning and the last person I see at night.
My Mother and I are the only ones that live in Storm Lake, so it is very hard and stressful
sometimes because we really do not see each other due to her working schedule. My mother works
from 8:00 AM to 9:00 pM, every week except on Fridays. So during the rest of the week, I feel like I
am alone all the time.
Every day, I do the same thing, get out of school and go home. The house would feel so empty
and silenced. Just me with my soul normally feeling bored and depressed It's all that comes to my
mind when there is no one to talk to. Mondays for me are the longest I feel that the day won't even
end from all the chores I have to do; taking out the trash , washing the dishes to making dinner.
Everything is done by the time my mother comes home so she won't have to worry about it. When
my mom comes home, we sit near the table and eat food from there we say our good nights and set
off to go to

Family : My Family Is The Roots Of My Life
Family is nothing but important, they are the roots of who you are, and they keep you grounded.
No one will ever be around to support the many successes that you will encounter in life as much
as family will be. Of course, family can be more than just blood but the most important bonds that
you share in your life. The everlasting relationship my grandma and I possessed will always be
the most wonderful bond I will ever hold. Growing up with her from time to time lead to a few
moments of losing my mind but what kind of relationship would it be if I didn't annoy her from
time to time as well. Everyone loved her and whenever she wandered into a room, everyone
smiled as if the time they last saw her were long years ago. I aspire to be such a wonderfully
brilliant human being like my grandma. All the people that she touched in her well lived life,
experienced nothing but warmness and genuine kindness from the bottom of her heart. All my
life, growing up with such a hard working woman makes the freshly open wound harder to heal
when she passes away from a dreadful illness. The I found out that her awful cancer came back
made me feel as if no matter how many right things you can do in life, it can always go wrong. It
was as if she got punished for being the most sympathetic person ever. Painfully sucking the life
out of her, the cancer took almost a year until the beginning of sophomore year was the last year I
would ever hear her say "have a good day at school". Everyday that passed by after hearing the
news of the cancer return was like torture because I saw her in pain, but couldn't do anything and
all I wanted to do was make everything better. She was such a strong person that whenever she
felt discomfort she didn't say anything because she didn't want to worry us. If in my life I can
become more than half as strong as she was, I will know I did something right. She was like a
beautiful bright red flourishing rose while the thorn in her side was cancer. The rest of the
summer was going by and my grandma went from having a hospital bed in her once cozy room to
being admitted into a hospital. As time slowly passed by, school had already started. The day I so
clearly remember but wish I didn't took place on

Family and Culture
"Family culture is a unique way that a family forms itself in terms of rules, roles, habits, activities,
beliefs, and other areas" ("What is family culture?", 2002). The perception of family is an aspect of
family culture; this includes the interactions within the family and with others. Some of these
perceptions can be defined as myths. A myth is a belief about someone or something that is
believed to be true, but it is false, made–up, or exaggerated (S. Yu, Lecture). There are both positive
and negative aspects of believing myths. Believing myths could be very dysfunctional; they can
result in negative consequences that disrupt a family and they may also divert our attention away
from widespread social problems that affect families. On...show more content...
So, most families turn to financial aid for help. This doesn't make the family a "bad family".
One more myth, the myth of the perfect marriage and the perfect family declares that after the
"perfect wedding the perfect couple will have the perfect life". Although families have always been
view as always a good thing with all these happy people living in "one big happy family", it has
always been filled with conflict and tension. Difficulties in families are common. Arguments between
spouses range from how the children should be raised to how the family finances should be
budgeted. Husband and wives also often struggle with the lack of passion in their relationship
beyond the first few years of their marriage, so they must maintain a relationship based on something
other than passionate love. Parent–child conflicts often play a big role as well; parents attempt to
assert their authority, while their children attempt to assert their independence, making conflict
inevitable. Society places unrealistic expectations upon families. In reality, families aren't always
perfect and blissful, since they can also be filled with conflict along with the rest of society. Stress
and conflicts could be destructive to families, especially when it gets out of hand. They are often
under constant stress, being pushed and pulled in many directions, often without the support

Essay on My Family
My Family My Family has always been a very important staple in my life, they come to all of my
sporting events and school activities to support me 100%. They are always there if I ever am in
trouble or in need of help, they can do whatever I need. If I need a talking to and I need to calm
down and focus they can do that for me. Then there are the times that I have with my brothers and
my other family and we have a lot of fun, memories that you share with your family you will never
forget. We have thanksgiving together, and all of my family comes out here for the 4th of July and
we have the best time. During the day we go out in the boat and things in the water and at night we

No name, no face to put with him, heck I don't even know if I look like him. My family and I are
different, there are families that don't share the same situation as having four adopted kids that
are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people
don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by
thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of thing does not happen, if anything being
from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are
curious to learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as
a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always
been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our
parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who
they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and
called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the
lives of me and my brothers. Growing up in a large family there will always be troubles and when
the ages are so far apart there will always be growing pains. Being adopted they have the choice of
picking kids that are farther apart from each other which means that we are all in a

Family Systems Therapy
Introduction Family systems therapy has been around for years, but it was not until the 1950s
that the theory really took root (Corey, 2017). Family systems therapy looks at the relational part
of humans and sees them as being an individual as apart of a bigger system. Murray Bowen,
developer of family systems theory, believed that "the causes of an individual's problems can be
understood by viewing the role of the family as an emotional unit" (Corey, 2017, p. 407). As a
counselor, I would like take into consideration that the client's family impacts them as an individual.
Having an understanding that any change made to any person in the family can impact the others.
Families are our first form of relationships. Having a better understanding of our client's families
will be able to help me understand their current behaviors and how they function. (Corey, 2017)
This paper will break down family system therapy and explain how I could use the techniques and
terms into daily practice. Differences An important part of family systems therapy is understanding
the difference between systemic and individual approaches. Family systems therapists can still do
individual counseling. The difference is they just focus on how the individuals family system is
impacting them. The family systems therapist would also want to look at the larger system to be
able to understand how change will not only help the individual, but the larger system as well
(Corey, 2017). As a counselor it is

Beliefs about Definition and Membership Regarding Family
Family is a group of people who are related by blood, marriage, or adoption. This is the definition
adopted by the U.S. government, and I believe it is the most accurate. Family holds a sense of
commitment over time. This excludes friends, significant others, and pets. Friends may come in and
out of your life, especially after moving or significant life transitions. Boyfriends and girlfriends are
open to walk away once the relationship is not going as they would like since there is not the
commitment of marriage. Yet,family is bound by one of the initial criteria through all stages and
circumstances of life. You may have very close friends that feel like family, but the feeling along

I like pictures, videos, demonstrations, anything that will help me to visualize concepts. I can
remember things much better if I have a way to see it in my mind, whether than is visioning the
spelling of word when I try to write it or thinking of a concrete example that goes along with the
concept. I think that my instinct would be to teach this way as well because that's what works for me.
As I mentioned, using visuals is very helpful for me. But more than that, I think that practicing
what I am learning is the best way for me to understand something. For example, if I am learning
about how to knead bread, it is helpful for me to watch a demonstration first, but then I need to
physically knead the bread in order to put the entire concept together. Watching alone only gets me
part way there. I would really like to use a more kinesthetic, hands on approach in my own
classroom someday. I like to be up and active and having others do things along with me, and I
think most people learn well doing hands on activities. I would incorporate other helpful methods
along with using movement, though. I know for myself that I need that visual guidance first,
whether that is watching someone or even reading instruction, but if I just listen to someone explain
the process, I most likely will miss a lot of key pieces of information. So, my goal would be to use
both visual and auditory elements to introduce

Family Is Important
I believe there's a lot of things important in our lives, but I would like to discuss only three. Change
is always happening but we adapt to it to keep living on. One thing I really believe is important is
my family. That's just one thing I believe you may think that money is important we all have
different opinions. We all think somethings important but it might not be important to others. So I'm
going to tell you what I think appropriate importance is to me. My number one spot on the list is
family. A lot of people may say that family is there first option, but I'm going to separate myself
from them. My family has been so supportive in any and everything that I do no matter what the
task is in hand. Financially they have backed me up my whole life even coming into adulthood.
Having all those good times and memories is one thing that will stick with you your whole life. My
mom and dad specifically make me want to tell people how important my family is. Mom and dad
disciplined me so I can have structure and respect for others even when the same isn't given back in

can get a proper flow of air. Heart disease is the lead number one killer of women and men a lot of
people don't know according to cdc.gov. We can prevent this disease with exercise and healthy
eating which is great. Taking your heath into a big consideration if you want make it to

take good care of yourself while you're young because you won't regret it in your old age. Health is

Essay On Family Identity
Family traditions and cultural legacies contribute to an individual's self–identity because it is the
fabric of where he or she derived from, who they are, and where they're journeying. Cultivating
Culture states: "Culture can give people a connection to a certain social values, beliefs, religions and
customs. It allows them to identify with other of similar mindsets and backgrounds. Cultural heritage
can provide an automatic sense of unity and belonging within a group and allows us to better
understand previous generations and the history of where we come from." In contrast, traditions and
cultural legacies can also inhibit an individual's self–identity because some families believe in total
loyalty to the constructs of the family system....show more content...
Because of Dee or Wangero disdaining of herculture, she will wander aimlessly in where she fits in
this world, not knowing if she is Dee Johnson a woman of a strong descent or Wangero Leewanika

"Culture the entire way of life of a group of people (including both material and symbolic
elements) that acts as a lens through which one views the world and is passed from one
generation to the next." "Although culture may seem to be "second nature" it is something
learned, rather than innate. Because we learn it so slowly and incrementally, we are often
unaware of the process. For instance, few of us would be conscious of having learned all the
slang words we currently use or the distance we typically maintain from someone while talking
with him/her. We may not remember exactly when we first felt patriotic or how we formed our
opinions about people from the upper class. We all carry culture inside ourselves; it becomes
ingrained and internalized into our way of thinking and acting. Culture guides the way we make
sense of the world around us and the way we make decisions about what to do and how to do it."
However those guidelines are not always embraced my every family member, so then the family
traditions and cultural behaviors can become a burden to the family member who wants to branch

No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays
an important role in all my family's lives. In my family, there are four people: my father, my

for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals

Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for
my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother.
As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are
numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing
advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of
his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent
approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then
asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to
anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get
out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to
get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I
also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in
a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my
cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and
activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I
am also known for being there

What Is A Family? Essay
For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect
model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered to be consisted from two different sexes'
parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly
functionalist and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are
many different definitions about what the family is. Different theoretical positions influence these
variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a
social group characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. It
includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain...show more content...
An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by
performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation of the sexual behaviour and reproduction.
пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next
generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would
disappear. He considered these functions as universal, although he agreed that they could develop.
Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the family–
primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security,
including sexual expression, provided by marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society
is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside the
marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead
argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear family is biologically necessary and natural. She
stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists
have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in
the class nature of the society. The starting point for the most Marxist analyses of gender and the
family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the

Family Is A Happy Family
Abstract
Family is very important and also having a happy family is important as well. There are times
when we all think, what makes up a happy family. We also question is there a thing has having a
happy family and is it possible for a family to be happy. Having a happy family is very important to
me and without it I'd worry so much. I understand that every family is not perfect and there isn't a
thing as a perfect happy family. There are so many factors that can make up a happy family and one
of them is order, with order you will not have to worry much about drama and chaos in the family's
home.
Family Happiness "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
(Tolstoy, 2010). It has been said that having a happy family can mold a person because
everything that the individual does will reflect other members of his/her family. There are often
times when we question is there such a thing as having a happy family and if so, what are the key
elements in order to having a happy family. Every family is different and unique in their own way
and some families have different ways of showing true family happiness. Some happy families have
problems and some happy families don't, they just bond. Every family has problems that they have
to deal with whether it's marital problems, problems with kids, problems with parents, and etc.
When a family is happy, the family comes before their friends. When we all think of the meaning for
happiness, what pops

My Family Traditions
My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am
talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start
the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing
Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my
grandparents' house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas
meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my
cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented.
My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is
called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if
you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents.
Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin
reads the story every year.
When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go
from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time because my grandma likes to see what everyone got.
Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play bingo.
She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We
have been doing all of these things for as long as I can remember. My dad says they have been
doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying on
these traditions.
I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that
my other family members are so used to doing these things that they will continue to do them in
the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren,
so I do not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma
would consider it. My whole family takes part in this tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and
twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone

I grew up in a nuclear family. There are four people in my family, consists of my father, mother,
my sister and me. My father is 62 years old. He's working as a insurance agent. My mother is 10
years younger than my father. She used to work as a store manager before she gave birth to me.
She quitted her job in order to take care of me and my sister because she believes that the mother

By spending a lot of time at home, she spends more time with my mom, helping her with house

just wants us to be safe. Another important rule set by my parents is that all family members must
have dinner together. This is so that all of us can have our bonding time as a family. Communication
is the knot that ties it all and it is no doubt the most important thing needed in any kind of
relationship. For my family, the communication methods that we practice are pretty much very
decent. My parents, after years and years of being together, they can understand each other very
well. They can understand each other without even saying a word, just a face expression would do.
My parents communicate differently as compared to when they communicate with my sister and
myself. This is because of the hieratical

Family Interaction In The Family
INTRODUCTION
The family is the most and fundamental building block of the society. The quality of interactions
within the family is an indicator of the health of the unit. Family interaction is the interpersonal
dynamics of the members of a family in a variety of environments and activities.1 The family is
conceived as a "a unit of interacting personalities" (Schvaneveldt,1966). Family is a system
consisting of interdependent and reciprocal relationships, hence the behavior of any family member
will affect all the family members and disturbs the equilibrium. The interpersonal relationships that
exist between members of the family are important for the dynamics of the family.
Social interaction is a dynamic,...show more content...
The peculiarity consists in fact that family members interpret and define each other's actions instead
of merely reacting to them. This is done through the use of the symbol systems of
communication.(Schvaneveldt,1966).
It consists of those various socio– psychological transactions occurring in the family as a system, to
evolve processes for decision making, emotional expressions, and personal views, assigning tasks,
and social status enabling the family members to contribute for the growth of the family by generally
morphogenesis at emotional, intellectual and social levels through the manipulation of internal and
external milieu of the family as a whole (bhatti.et.al 1986). Having a member with a chronic mental
illness can be a challenge for the family. An illness such asschizophrenia or bipolar affective disorder
often runs a chronic course. Caring for such a member can be demanding on other members of the
family physically, emotionally and financially. It impacts the functioning of the family unit in
various ways, both positive and negative. Some authors opine that in order to understand the
psychopathology of mental illness it is necessary to study the patterns of family functioning. 2 The
interaction pattern within the family is one such indicator of the functional level of the

Definition Essay On Family
When you hear the word family, what are the thoughts come to your head? Maybe words such as
blood, loving, nurturing; or even in some rare cases, overbearing, ashamed, and disgraceful. We all
have a different perspective of what family means to us, but a common trend that most families
exhibit is that a family is a unit of protection, a support system and that every family has its flaws.
For most, "family is always first and forever" and we will do anything to protect them. If we see a
family member down or hurt, it is the natural instinct to want to jump in and protect your own.
Animals and humans alike are very protective of their own kind, especially their children. For
instance, a mother kangaroo carries her Joey in her pouch to shield him from the dangers of the wild
until the Joey is ready to protect themselves on their own. The same applies to human families as
well. If something were...show more content...

devastated because they had just lost someone close to them. Many people turned to each other
for comfort and support in one of their lowest times and we were able to rise up see strength
through unity, even at a moment as dark as that one. Another example of this is that we rather
turn to someone we know and receive financial assistance, instead of someone else, which would
usually result in us not asking for the help. Our family members are usually the ones who help us
out in desperate times. For instance, I had an aunt who needed help purchasing equipment to
successfully complete her house back home in Jamaica, and us being a family, of course, stepped
in to help her. My mother was able to step in, be as helpful as she could and gave her the money
for her to complete her home, all the way back home in

Family : Love And Love
Who knew something that would affect my life would happen before I was ever even born.
Family is a term that most people associate with warm, safe, and loving. That was never the case
in my situation due to my childhood being riddled with fights and heartache. It all started a cold
night in the year 2000 two years before I was conceived. That's when two unlikely people would
meet and blossom into a new relationship which would soon crumble under the pressure of a teen
pregnancy, financial instability, and stress. As a child you live in a bubble of innocence where
you aren't aware of the bad in the world or even in your family but there comes a point where that
perfect bubble bursts and you have to face the truths. My parents tried so hard to hide the
problems of their relationships from me because all they wanted me to be was a happy child. As I
grew older I noticed certain things that I couldn't as a child like how my parents stopped hugging
and the kisses to each other stopped. There never said I love you to each other unless we were in the
same vicinity as them because of the façade they wanted to maintain. However, they never
stopped loving us any differently than before which ultimately proved to me that no matter what
happened my parents would never change. Being a kid, it never really occurred to me that maybe
my parents didn't feel the same love to each other as they did for their kids.
People like to believe that when a couple divorce their relationship ends,

Family : The Most Important Thing In My Life
I believe that family is the most important thing in your life. Why you may ask ? Well I believe that
it's a part of you that is always gonna be there for you when times get tough. And it's never going to
make you feel like anything less. An Important event that happened in my life that happened that
connects back to the situation that I'm still going through now is that, One day me and my mother
had gotten into an argument because she was frustrated with me she didn't know what to do with
me because I wasn't doing well in school and I'm still not, But I'm trying though. So she didn't know
what else to but say hurtful words to me , it was the truth. Then I really found out the about the real
meaning of " The truth hurts" myself . But I could understand why she would just say such a thing
like that towards me because my family was already going through something. And I had just made
things worse, I pushed her to a point that she just couldn't take it anymore. But at the same time I
had so much hatred towards her I was so mad . I thought to myself maybe I was just a mistake,
maybe I would have been better off with another family or maybe I would have made my mother's
life better by me not just being born. Their was so many things going through my mind. I had felt
so awful because I felt like I was the reason why I kept her from achieving her dreams. I knew I
couldn't stay in the house for one minute.
What did I do you ask? Well I ran away. I ran away from my

Family Definition Essay
The dictionary definition of family is, "a group of parents and children living together in a
household." The definition of my family, on the other hand, would be something along the lines of,
"a group of crazy parents and wild children living amongst several different households." My
parents divorced when I was young, my dad got remarried, my mom got remarried, my dad got
divorced again, and then my dad got married again. Throughout all of the marriages I also acquired
seven younger siblings along the way. Though the environment and family in which I have been
raised is far from conventional, it has made me the open–minded, well–rounded person I am today.
My dad was in the army at the time my mom was pregnant with me, so instead of being

Essay Family

  • 1. Spending Time With My Family Spending time with my Family during the weekends The most important thing for me in my life is my family. Although we are separated during the week, we would hardly see each other. Deep down, they are the reason why I look forward to Fridays and Sundays. These days are not Just any ordinary day for my family because we get to come to gather and have fun we bond as any other normal family dose. Another reason why my family is important to me is because my mother is my motivation to finish the week she is the first person I see in the morning and the last person I see at night. My Mother and I are the only ones that live in Storm Lake, so it is very hard and stressful sometimes because we really do not see each other due to her working schedule. My mother works from 8:00 AM to 9:00 pM, every week except on Fridays. So during the rest of the week, I feel like I am alone all the time. Every day, I do the same thing, get out of school and go home. The house would feel so empty and silenced. Just me with my soul normally feeling bored and depressed It's all that comes to my mind when there is no one to talk to. Mondays for me are the longest I feel that the day won't even end from all the chores I have to do; taking out the trash , washing the dishes to making dinner. Everything is done by the time my mother comes home so she won't have to worry about it. When my mom comes home, we sit near the table and eat food from there we say our good nights and set off to go to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Family : My Family Is The Roots Of My Life Family is nothing but important, they are the roots of who you are, and they keep you grounded. No one will ever be around to support the many successes that you will encounter in life as much as family will be. Of course, family can be more than just blood but the most important bonds that you share in your life. The everlasting relationship my grandma and I possessed will always be the most wonderful bond I will ever hold. Growing up with her from time to time lead to a few moments of losing my mind but what kind of relationship would it be if I didn't annoy her from time to time as well. Everyone loved her and whenever she wandered into a room, everyone smiled as if the time they last saw her were long years ago. I aspire to be such a wonderfully brilliant human being like my grandma. All the people that she touched in her well lived life, experienced nothing but warmness and genuine kindness from the bottom of her heart. All my life, growing up with such a hard working woman makes the freshly open wound harder to heal when she passes away from a dreadful illness. The I found out that her awful cancer came back made me feel as if no matter how many right things you can do in life, it can always go wrong. It was as if she got punished for being the most sympathetic person ever. Painfully sucking the life out of her, the cancer took almost a year until the beginning of sophomore year was the last year I would ever hear her say "have a good day at school". Everyday that passed by after hearing the news of the cancer return was like torture because I saw her in pain, but couldn't do anything and all I wanted to do was make everything better. She was such a strong person that whenever she felt discomfort she didn't say anything because she didn't want to worry us. If in my life I can become more than half as strong as she was, I will know I did something right. She was like a beautiful bright red flourishing rose while the thorn in her side was cancer. The rest of the summer was going by and my grandma went from having a hospital bed in her once cozy room to being admitted into a hospital. As time slowly passed by, school had already started. The day I so clearly remember but wish I didn't took place on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Family and Culture "Family culture is a unique way that a family forms itself in terms of rules, roles, habits, activities, beliefs, and other areas" ("What is family culture?", 2002). The perception of family is an aspect of family culture; this includes the interactions within the family and with others. Some of these perceptions can be defined as myths. A myth is a belief about someone or something that is believed to be true, but it is false, made–up, or exaggerated (S. Yu, Lecture). There are both positive and negative aspects of believing myths. Believing myths could be very dysfunctional; they can result in negative consequences that disrupt a family and they may also divert our attention away from widespread social problems that affect families. On...show more content... So, most families turn to financial aid for help. This doesn't make the family a "bad family". One more myth, the myth of the perfect marriage and the perfect family declares that after the "perfect wedding the perfect couple will have the perfect life". Although families have always been view as always a good thing with all these happy people living in "one big happy family", it has always been filled with conflict and tension. Difficulties in families are common. Arguments between spouses range from how the children should be raised to how the family finances should be budgeted. Husband and wives also often struggle with the lack of passion in their relationship beyond the first few years of their marriage, so they must maintain a relationship based on something other than passionate love. Parent–child conflicts often play a big role as well; parents attempt to assert their authority, while their children attempt to assert their independence, making conflict inevitable. Society places unrealistic expectations upon families. In reality, families aren't always perfect and blissful, since they can also be filled with conflict along with the rest of society. Stress and conflicts could be destructive to families, especially when it gets out of hand. They are often under constant stress, being pushed and pulled in many directions, often without the support Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on My Family My Family My Family has always been a very important staple in my life, they come to all of my sporting events and school activities to support me 100%. They are always there if I ever am in trouble or in need of help, they can do whatever I need. If I need a talking to and I need to calm down and focus they can do that for me. Then there are the times that I have with my brothers and my other family and we have a lot of fun, memories that you share with your family you will never forget. We have thanksgiving together, and all of my family comes out here for the 4th of July and we have the best time. During the day we go out in the boat and things in the water and at night we eat a lot of food and shoot off tons of fireworks. Then we...show more content... No name, no face to put with him, heck I don't even know if I look like him. My family and I are different, there are families that don't share the same situation as having four adopted kids that are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of thing does not happen, if anything being from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are curious to learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the lives of me and my brothers. Growing up in a large family there will always be troubles and when the ages are so far apart there will always be growing pains. Being adopted they have the choice of picking kids that are farther apart from each other which means that we are all in a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Family Systems Therapy Introduction Family systems therapy has been around for years, but it was not until the 1950s that the theory really took root (Corey, 2017). Family systems therapy looks at the relational part of humans and sees them as being an individual as apart of a bigger system. Murray Bowen, developer of family systems theory, believed that "the causes of an individual's problems can be understood by viewing the role of the family as an emotional unit" (Corey, 2017, p. 407). As a counselor, I would like take into consideration that the client's family impacts them as an individual. Having an understanding that any change made to any person in the family can impact the others. Families are our first form of relationships. Having a better understanding of our client's families will be able to help me understand their current behaviors and how they function. (Corey, 2017) This paper will break down family system therapy and explain how I could use the techniques and terms into daily practice. Differences An important part of family systems therapy is understanding the difference between systemic and individual approaches. Family systems therapists can still do individual counseling. The difference is they just focus on how the individuals family system is impacting them. The family systems therapist would also want to look at the larger system to be able to understand how change will not only help the individual, but the larger system as well (Corey, 2017). • 6. Family Definition Beliefs about Definition and Membership Regarding Family Family is a group of people who are related by blood, marriage, or adoption. This is the definition adopted by the U.S. government, and I believe it is the most accurate. Family holds a sense of commitment over time. This excludes friends, significant others, and pets. Friends may come in and out of your life, especially after moving or significant life transitions. Boyfriends and girlfriends are open to walk away once the relationship is not going as they would like since there is not the commitment of marriage. Yet,family is bound by one of the initial criteria through all stages and circumstances of life. You may have very close friends that feel like family, but the feeling along ...show more content... I like pictures, videos, demonstrations, anything that will help me to visualize concepts. I can remember things much better if I have a way to see it in my mind, whether than is visioning the spelling of word when I try to write it or thinking of a concrete example that goes along with the concept. I think that my instinct would be to teach this way as well because that's what works for me. As I mentioned, using visuals is very helpful for me. But more than that, I think that practicing what I am learning is the best way for me to understand something. For example, if I am learning about how to knead bread, it is helpful for me to watch a demonstration first, but then I need to physically knead the bread in order to put the entire concept together. Watching alone only gets me part way there. I would really like to use a more kinesthetic, hands on approach in my own classroom someday. I like to be up and active and having others do things along with me, and I think most people learn well doing hands on activities. I would incorporate other helpful methods along with using movement, though. I know for myself that I need that visual guidance first, whether that is watching someone or even reading instruction, but if I just listen to someone explain the process, I most likely will miss a lot of key pieces of information. So, my goal would be to use both visual and auditory elements to introduce Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Family Is Important I believe there's a lot of things important in our lives, but I would like to discuss only three. Change is always happening but we adapt to it to keep living on. One thing I really believe is important is my family. That's just one thing I believe you may think that money is important we all have different opinions. We all think somethings important but it might not be important to others. So I'm going to tell you what I think appropriate importance is to me. My number one spot on the list is family. A lot of people may say that family is there first option, but I'm going to separate myself from them. My family has been so supportive in any and everything that I do no matter what the task is in hand. Financially they have backed me up my whole life even coming into adulthood. Having all those good times and memories is one thing that will stick with you your whole life. My mom and dad specifically make me want to tell people how important my family is. • 8. Essay On Family Identity Family traditions and cultural legacies contribute to an individual's self–identity because it is the fabric of where he or she derived from, who they are, and where they're journeying. Cultivating Culture states: "Culture can give people a connection to a certain social values, beliefs, religions and customs. It allows them to identify with other of similar mindsets and backgrounds. Cultural heritage can provide an automatic sense of unity and belonging within a group and allows us to better understand previous generations and the history of where we come from." In contrast, traditions and cultural legacies can also inhibit an individual's self–identity because some families believe in total loyalty to the constructs of the family system....show more content... "Culture the entire way of life of a group of people (including both material and symbolic elements) that acts as a lens through which one views the world and is passed from one generation to the next." "Although culture may seem to be "second nature" it is something learned, rather than innate. Because we learn it so slowly and incrementally, we are often unaware of the process. For instance, few of us would be conscious of having learned all the slang words we currently use or the distance we typically maintain from someone while talking with him/her. We may not remember exactly when we first felt patriotic or how we formed our opinions about people from the upper class. We all carry culture inside ourselves; it becomes ingrained and internalized into our way of thinking and acting. Culture guides the way we make sense of the world around us and the way we make decisions about what to do and how to do it." However those guidelines are not always embraced my every family member, so then the family traditions and cultural behaviors can become a burden to the family member who wants to branch out and lead a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In my family, there are four people: my father, my mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times. My little brother is the pet of the family. Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. What Is A Family? Essay For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered to be consisted from two different sexes' parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly functionalist and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are many different definitions about what the family is. Different theoretical positions influence these variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a social group characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain...show more content... An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation of the sexual behaviour and reproduction. пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would disappear. He considered these functions as universal, although he agreed that they could develop. Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the family– primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security, including sexual expression, provided by marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside the marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear family is biologically necessary and natural. She stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in the class nature of the society. The starting point for the most Marxist analyses of gender and the family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Definition Essay Family The Dictionary definition of family is "A group consisting of parents and children living together in a household." My definition of family is people with an unconditional love for each other. My family and I have always been very close. For example, we share all of our secrets with each other. Since I can remember, my family and I have always went on a family beach trip to Panama City Beach. We stay at the Shores of Panama, a very nice resort, and the people who own it expect us every year. We always take our beach trip in early September. The reason they decided on September is because it is the beginning of fall which means it will be warm instead of hot. I look forward to going to the beach with my family every year because it is relaxing, fun, and all about family time which I love....show more content... We always stop and get breakfast at McDonalds in Dothan, Alabama which is the half way marker. We are always so excited that we make as few stops as possible on the way. The first thing we do when we arrive at the beach is drop all of our bags and take a nap while my mom and dad go to the grocery store. We schedule our beach trip to be a week–long, which a week at the beach can be too much at times. My favorite thing to do at the beach is relax in a beach chair and dig my toes through the sand as the water hits them. My family and I always line our chairs up and put our music player in the middle of us, which is playing our favorite Pandora station, the old school throwback hits. I usually fall asleep and wake up looking like a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. My Family Traditions My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my grandparents' house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented. My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents. Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin reads the story every year. When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time because my grandma likes to see what everyone got. Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play bingo. She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We have been doing all of these things for as long as I can remember. My dad says they have been doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying on these traditions. I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that my other family members are so used to doing these things that they will continue to do them in the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren, so I do not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma would consider it. My whole family takes part in this tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It is understandable because of all the crime rates shooting sky high these days, our parents just wants us to be safe. Another important rule set by my parents is that all family members must have dinner together. This is so that all of us can have our bonding time as a family. Communication is the knot that ties it all and it is no doubt the most important thing needed in any kind of relationship. For my family, the communication methods that we practice are pretty much very decent. My parents, after years and years of being together, they can understand each other very well. They can understand each other without even saying a word, just a face expression would do. My parents communicate differently as compared to when they communicate with my sister and myself. • 16. Family Interaction In The Family INTRODUCTION The family is the most and fundamental building block of the society. The quality of interactions within the family is an indicator of the health of the unit. Family interaction is the interpersonal dynamics of the members of a family in a variety of environments and activities.1 The family is conceived as a "a unit of interacting personalities" (Schvaneveldt,1966). Family is a system consisting of interdependent and reciprocal relationships, hence the behavior of any family member will affect all the family members and disturbs the equilibrium. • 17. Definition Essay On Family When you hear the word family, what are the thoughts come to your head? Maybe words such as blood, loving, nurturing; or even in some rare cases, overbearing, ashamed, and disgraceful. We all have a different perspective of what family means to us, but a common trend that most families exhibit is that a family is a unit of protection, a support system and that every family has its flaws. For most, "family is always first and forever" and we will do anything to protect them. If we see a family member down or hurt, it is the natural instinct to want to jump in and protect your own. Animals and humans alike are very protective of their own kind, especially their children. For instance, a mother kangaroo carries her Joey in her pouch to shield him from the dangers of the wild until the Joey is ready to protect themselves on their own. The same applies to human families as well. If something were...show more content... Many people turned to each other for comfort and support in one of their lowest times and we were able to rise up see strength through unity, even at a moment as dark as that one. Another example of this is that we rather turn to someone we know and receive financial assistance, instead of someone else, which would usually result in us not asking for the help. Our family members are usually the ones who help us out in desperate times. For instance, I had an aunt who needed help purchasing equipment to successfully complete her house back home in Jamaica, and us being a family, of course, stepped in to help her. My mother was able to step in, be as helpful as she could and gave her the money for her to complete her home, all the way back home in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Family : Love And Love Who knew something that would affect my life would happen before I was ever even born. Family is a term that most people associate with warm, safe, and loving. That was never the case in my situation due to my childhood being riddled with fights and heartache. It all started a cold night in the year 2000 two years before I was conceived. That's when two unlikely people would meet and blossom into a new relationship which would soon crumble under the pressure of a teen pregnancy, financial instability, and stress. As a child you live in a bubble of innocence where you aren't aware of the bad in the world or even in your family but there comes a point where that perfect bubble bursts and you have to face the truths. My parents tried so hard to hide the problems of their relationships from me because all they wanted me to be was a happy child. As I grew older I noticed certain things that I couldn't as a child like how my parents stopped hugging and the kisses to each other stopped. There never said I love you to each other unless we were in the same vicinity as them because of the faГ§ade they wanted to maintain. However, they never stopped loving us any differently than before which ultimately proved to me that no matter what happened my parents would never change. Being a kid, it never really occurred to me that maybe my parents didn't feel the same love to each other as they did for their kids. People like to believe that when a couple divorce their relationship ends, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Family : The Most Important Thing In My Life I believe that family is the most important thing in your life. Why you may ask ? Well I believe that it's a part of you that is always gonna be there for you when times get tough. And it's never going to make you feel like anything less. An Important event that happened in my life that happened that connects back to the situation that I'm still going through now is that, One day me and my mother had gotten into an argument because she was frustrated with me she didn't know what to do with me because I wasn't doing well in school and I'm still not, But I'm trying though. So she didn't know what else to but say hurtful words to me , it was the truth. Then I really found out the about the real meaning of " The truth hurts" myself . But I could understand why she would just say such a thing like that towards me because my family was already going through something. And I had just made things worse, I pushed her to a point that she just couldn't take it anymore. But at the same time I had so much hatred towards her I was so mad . I thought to myself maybe I was just a mistake, maybe I would have been better off with another family or maybe I would have made my mother's life better by me not just being born. Their was so many things going through my mind. I had felt so awful because I felt like I was the reason why I kept her from achieving her dreams. I knew I couldn't stay in the house for one minute. What did I do you ask? Well I ran away. I ran away from my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Family Definition Essay The dictionary definition of family is, "a group of parents and children living together in a household." The definition of my family, on the other hand, would be something along the lines of, "a group of crazy parents and wild children living amongst several different households." My parents divorced when I was young, my dad got remarried, my mom got remarried, my dad got divorced again, and then my dad got married again. Throughout all of the marriages I also acquired seven younger siblings along the way. Though the environment and family in which I have been raised is far from conventional, it has made me the open–minded, well–rounded person I am today.
