Descriptive Essay On A Haunted House
The wind softly blows leaves around the feet of campers in the cool night. Scary stories are read
by the dim glow of the campfire and the shadows of the tree branches loom over like hands,
threatening to reach out and grab whoever is near the forest's edge.
It is the season of horror again.
Every year at the end of harvest season, some people believe the walls between our world and the
spirit world become thin, giving spirits the ability to cross over. For over 2,000 years, Halloween has
been celebrated.
In honor of Halloween, haunted houses all over the world open their doors to thousands of thrill
seekers. This year I went to three of the most popular attractions in Omaha: Camp Fear, Mystery
Manor and Scary Acres to find out which one is the best.
To begin with, I attended Camp Fear, a relatively newhaunted house located off of West Maple Road
in Elkhorn.
Camp Fear offers scary movies for 5 dollars in their nightmare theatre. Z–Bunker is a game all about
shooting zombies with paint ball guns. Bloodrush, the forest of terror, is claimed to be the longest
and most intense haunted attraction. And if you dare to spend the night, Camp Fear offers a
campsite where creatures may crawl out of the shadows to make sure it's visiters do not recieve a
good night's sleep.
My group and I decided to go through Bloodrush. The wait was roughly 30 minutes, however, I did
go on Friday the 13th. I expected it to be busy. The whole attraction lasted a little over a half an hour.

many creative haunted house props around about the end of October, and some are better than
others. The first ingredient for a great prop is darkness. Nothing is very terrifying inside light of

greatest feasible ambiance. Haunted house props don't need to be pricey Individuals throughout the

A Haunted House Analysis
In Virginia Woolf's A Haunted House, images of darkness and light have numerous symbolic
meanings. Light is associated with the presence of the ghostly couple that roams the speaker's home,
but it has symbolic meanings beyond that–it represents the insight and truth the speaker gains from
observing the couple. In addition, as is revealed by the last lines of the story and the images of
darkness used in the story (which provide a counterpoint to the symbolism of light), light represents
the love and happiness that comes from union. Overall, light plays a major role in the development
of one of the major themes of the story: human relationships are more valuable and lasting than any
tangible riches or treasures.
Light imagery is associated with the ghostly couple throughout much of Virginia Woolf's work. For
instance, in section 3, the speaker states that she uses the reflection of sunlight in the drawing room
window to tell if the ghosts are present. In sections 4 and 5, light seems to describe the ghostly
couple itself: "But the beam of the lamp falls straight from the window...Wandering through the
house...the ghostly couple seek their joy." By linking the presence of light with the presence of the
ghost couple, Woolf uses light as an illuminating and revealing force. The light the ghosts bring with
them opens her eyes and mind to presences she would otherwise be ignorant of. Furthermore, the
light of the ghosts reveals an important truth to the speaker at the end of the story,

High upon a lonely hill surrounded by a great dark forest, stood an ancient, crumbling manor,
known as the Haunted House. The windows were all smashed and it looked like the house was
used a long time ago and was never used again. The font gates were as old as the hills. It belonged to
a greedy old man, he was as short as a stump, he was really grumpy and fat who everyone said he
was a wizard. Even though he owned the immense haunted house he didn't dare to go inside because
he was frightened like a child in dark, so he lived in the small cottage in the grounds of the manor,
with just his black cat for company. He was as lonely as the master who has go to war, but hews
happy, because he had a true love. His true love was gold, and he had...show more content...

That night, Titan stepped through the rusty gates, as he did the surroundings seemed to change.
The air became misty all of a sudden. The weather became cold and when he looked towards the
trees, it looked as if they were alive. He turned his concentration away from the trees, which did not
freak him at all, and continued his journey up the hill towards the house. Without hesitating, he
unlocked the door and went in, as he went in the silent still sinister house, the door slammed shut
behind him slowly the gloomy light started fading. A butler appeared from nowhere, he was
holding his head under his arms like a ball in his hands. "Jeeves at your service, sir," he said,
creepily. "Follow me." "Thank you, my good man," said Titan excitingly, handing him his coat and
following him up the creaking staircase without blinking an eye.
Ancient portraits followed him with their eyes like human eyes. Titan winked at them as he
passed expressing his bravery. An empty suit of armour waved at him. Titan waved back. "Good
evening," he said. Jeeves led him on down a murky passage. A heavy door creaked open and they
entered a dark bedroom, with a tattered four poster bed. Cobwebs hung from the ceiling and a thick
layer of dust covered the furniture. Titan opened the wardrobe and a skeleton came

here's no age limit on scary, as Julie Asmussen can attest.
"This is something that brings out the kid in me," Asmussen, 52, said Friday of All Hallows Eve,
Naper Settlement's annual haunted house extravaganza that's been attracting thousands of visitors
for the last 13 years.

For two nights, a dozen historic houses on the Naperville history museum's 12–acre Naperville
campus are transformed into haunted dwellings filled with creepy characters and things that go
bump in the night.
"Everybody likes Halloween," said Asmussen, of Naperville, who has attended All Hallows Eve for
the last five years. "It's like Christmas, and there are always different things to see each time I'm
here."
Attractions this year ranged from fan favorites, such as the Mummy's Tomb, Frankenstein's
Laboratory and Dracula's Lair, to new fare, including the Dark Arts Gallery and ahaunted house
based on Chicago author Lindsay Currie's newest book, "The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street."
Emma Vodick, the Settlement's public relations and social media coordinator, said preparations for
the two–day event had been going on all week prior to Friday's opening night. Staff, performers and
volunteers "were all excited to get things under way," she said.
"This is a big community event and it's awesome to see the wide range of people that come out,"
Vodick said.
"We had these performances last year featuring the Ohio Burn Unit fire spinners and people would

A Ghostly Tale
"Hey" I yelled, running up to my friends. "Oh hello" my friends all said in unison. My friends
consisted of Mary, riley, and Samantha we had all been friends for a while now and got along pretty
well. " So are you guys ready to go to the haunted house yet?" "No but I probably never will be so I
guess I am" riley said a little too loudly. "Okay then let's go" Mary said with enthusiasm. So we went
off walking towards the haunted house. We blended in pretty well with all the children
trick–or–treating because we had all dressed up even though none of us were trick–or–treating. I was
wearing a costume that made me look like a demon. Sam was a ballerina, mary was a unicorn, riley
was an elf, but the type from lord of the rings.
We finally got to the so called haunted house. It was unsettling there was just something about it
that none of us could put into words. Maybe we didn't want to know why, maybe we just wanted
to act as if nothing was wrong and saying nothing made that real. The house looked as if were
falling apart like it would collapse at the slightest of wind. " So I guess we should go in then"
Sam almost whispered as if she didn't want us to hear her. " Yes, let's go in" Mary said, but the
way she said it was off setting like she had no feelings. Though honestly, I don't think any of us
wanted to go in we walked up to the door and pushed.
The door opened, but not with ease and when it did it made a loud creaking sound. "This was your
idea Mary you go in

My Experience in a Haunted House
My Experience in a Haunted House – Original Writing I stared at the forgotten ruin as my taxi
pulled up outside. It reminded me of a tombstone in a graveyard, overcome with vines; twisting
around it like a snake trying to kill its prey. I got out. " 5.55 please mate" stated the cab driver. I
exchanged money with him and he drove off. I looked up upon this house with great discomfort. '
Why on earth did I agree to this bet? Spend a night in an old rotten "haunted" house!"' My mind
pondered. I stepped up to the front door, which had been populated with cobwebs and spiders. An
old rusty chain hang down swinging in the breeze twined...show more content...

bedstead and the same mahogany floor. This wasn't the only trait that followed into every room in

that her small curved nose made her almost hawk–like. " I will leave you now Mr. Edding to get
settled. Dinner will be served at 8pm." Said the old man. " Thank you, I'll remember that." He
turned away and put his hand onto the knob of the door, he was shutting the door but he stopped in
his wake, " By the way Mr. Edding, do not even think about wondering around. You'll never know,
something might happen. If you understand, what I mean?" he said strangely with hysterical
laughter. "Yeah…" I said nervously. He shut the door and I could hear his incessant laughter
echoing down the hallway. I shook my head and started to organize my things. ' Toothbrush….
Toothpaste…. Soap….' I listed, while getting them out of my bag. "CLUNK!" I paused.
"CLUNK!" I took a step forward. Suddenly a huge gust of wind came crashing into my bedroom

The Haunted House
In Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Fall of the House of Usher," Poe incorporates a lyric titled
"The Haunted Palace," which is about a placid kingdom that turns from a idyllic, celestial, asylum to
an insidious sepulcher, home to countless cadavers. The original regent of this tremendous country,
Thought, was violated and overthrown by the demons of lunacy, leading to its devastated
circumstance. Poe includes this poem to compare his eerie vision of a palace to the once radiant and
luminous House of Usher, through the fissures that appear within the sanities of the residents of both
households. At one time, the Usher family held dominion over their estates and their minds, but now
the mansion has fallen into disarray, with decaying bricks

It was a sunny morning the streets were honking filled with cars. I called my friend over so we
could play baseball. Ethan had told me that there was a haunted house on Halloween that was the
scariest in town. I was never a big fan of Halloween all the costumes, people coming to your house
that's weird. And plus this haunted house we are supposed to go to is right by the woods. "Ethan
I don't think i'm going to that place it's right by the woods". Ethan was looking at me like I was
crazy, " ARE YOU NUTS! We are going no matter what and we are going to bring James as well".
Later that night I was taking the trash out, two tall shadowy figures emerged out of the dark into the
streetlight. The men were dressed in clown costumes, thinking to...show more content...

decided to man up and go, and just deal with it. For Halloween i dressed up as a caveman, Ethan
was a skeleton, and James was a troll. It was finally here the night where people get candy and get
scared to death it was time to go to the haunted house. As me Ethan and James are walking to the
haunted house we come upon the forest, the damp dark shadowy forest. And of course Ethan
makes the idea "hey we should go through the forest for a shortcut" Ethan said. I stopped him
right there "we are not going through that forest there is something weird about it" I said. In a
mocking voice Ethan makes fun of me, "yeah you shouldn't go those clowns are properly in
there". James and Ethan laugh. I said " Alright stop i'm coming". As we start walking I get that
nauseated, nervous feeling in my stomach. I get agitated looking around if something were
following us, i asked where we were.Ethan's response did not seem confident,I knew it, we were lost.
James started to get scared, "let's just go back" James said. As we started to walk back things did not
look right it's like we were going in circles, the same rocks the same trees. James was freaking out
screaming at the top of his lungs "HELP!

Descriptive Essay On Haunted House
If there was one thing that has grasped my attention as much as it caused me nightmares, it was
haunted houses. Not the type of haunted houses that pop up around Halloween and frighten you
with organized jump scares. I mean real haunted houses with a backstory. The kind where
someone ended up being murdered on the property and the person's spirit lingers years later.
That's what I am on the search for. My interest started after I had accidently watched My
Paranormal Encounter while channel surfing at the age of 10. Ever since that day I've been
doing research on paranormal activity: attempting to discover a way to conquer my fear. It's been a
decade since I first began and myself, along with a few friends, have been preparing for almost a
year to further my research by visiting a real haunted house. Convincing myself that I was ready for
this was more difficult than convincing the others involved. Even now as I sit in the back of some
beat up van I feel like we should go back. I shifted my attention from the view of cornfields outside
the window to the front where Tony and Cheryl sat jamming out to some song by Guns n' Roses
with the windows down. They started waving their hands around like fools, attempting to keep
everyone lively since we had been on the empty road for several hours without stopping much.
Behind me, Kurt opened the mini cooler, which sat upon miscellaneous crumbs that had always
coated the colorless carpet, and snickered.
"Who wants a Coke?" he hollered to

My friends and I wanted to go to a haunted house without telling our parents. It was going to be the
5 of us, but at the last minute, our 5th friend thought her parents were going to find out so she
didn't go. She was right. A couple weeks later all our parents found out and we all got grounded. I
told my parents that I was going to the home football game. My friend Lexi picked me up at Four
O'clock to go to the game because we volunteered to work at the concession stand. We wanted to
make sure that people saw us at the game so if our parents asked if we went there we technically
wouldn't be lying to them. The three of us got picked about Six O'clock by my friend Payne who
lives in Geneseo. Payne was only 16 but there was going to be 4 of us all together in the car so he
said we needed to take the back roads to Peoria because there would be fewer cops there than on
the interstate. We got to the haunted house at Six O'clock. Payne had to drive around a little
because he couldn't find a parking spot. As we walked up to pay for the haunted house there were
weird, creepy people following us up to the booth. We got our tickets and then we had to sit down
for like 10 minutes because they were waiting for the line to go down. Finally, they told us we
could go get in line and we waited for 2 hours in line. When we got close to the front of the line
Payne got a text from his mom asking where he was so he told her the truth. His mom was really
mad and she told him that he had to

When I walked into the haunted house to explore it. The old porch was creaking I was shaking.
As I walked it the door slammed behind me. I got scared tried to open the door there was no
budge. I ran to the back door of the house it was looked too there was no way I was getting out. I
thought to myself "this house is haunted".
I decided to look around the house and see what it was like. There were four bedrooms, two
bathrooms, A kitchen, living room, and a den. I just figured out there was a up and a down stairs. I
decided to be brave and take a look up stairs. As I walked up the stairs the stairs creaked as i was
shaking scared that I would fall in. BOOM!!!!!!!, a loud noise I hear. The house was so scary I was
feeling very sick I just wanted to get out! There was no way for me to get out I was trapped.
When I went upstairs to look there was a game room and bathroom and a little lap sitting on a table.
I went more towards the lamp. Zoom!!! The lamp slides off the table and hits the wall and breaks. I
run down stairs shaking. I tripped over a loose board. I hit my head on the stairs I felt like it was the
end. After a few minutes I woke up in the basement I was thinking " How did I get down here".
Then I looked up and I a little boy was looking at me. He says " Are you ok"? I looked at him "yes
thanks" for helping me. You look scared. Yes I am I came here to explore it. I fell down the stairs
and hit my head as the lamp fell off the table. Sorry about that was my dad

Narrative Essay About A Haunted House
Tick, tock, tick, tock, the sound of the clock is the only sound in the house. I look up at the clock
at it says 2:55am. Which is strange because it has felt like we have been here for hours, from the
time we broke into the house, which was at 12:30am. No one else can be seen or heard, so I am all
alone now.
It was Halloween, and my friends and I, were bored of the typical Halloween house party and
wanted to do something that will spike our adrenalin. So we decided to break into the house at the
end of the street. The house at the end of the street was considered to be haunted, as it was the first
house ever built in the neighborhood, long time before any of the other houses. It was believed to
have been built in the 1800's and no one has...show more content...
One might expect that there would still be some noise, but nothing. The lights of the houses were

turned around to face the house, there was suddenly a light, in the right upstairs window. We all
stared at each other in amazement, as this was not possible. Jake was the first of us to sprint off
towards the house, the door surprisingly was not locked and creaked open. We burst in, at first
glance the entrance was like anything that you would expect, dusty, dirty and neglected. We
raced upstairs, not paying too much attention to the rest of the house. We reached the room were
the light was on, however only to find that there was no light. Not only were there no physical
lights as seen in today's modern houses. However there was a small paraffin lamp on the shelf,
which had no trace amounts of paraffin and was ice cold, meaning it, had not been used in a long
time. As I was busy investigating the paraffin lamp, I did not notice both Jake and Spencer left the
room. I turned around to face the rest of the room and to my horror, I was left alone. I casually
walked out into the hallway, and shouted "Hey

When they walked through the doors of the haunted house in the graveyard, it had an instantly
spooky aroma. The door itself was wooden and starting to rot away and fall from its hinges,
although that kind of describes the whole house, falling apart. To the right there was a small
staircase with ten or eleven steps leading upstairs and a doorway below them leading downstairs.
There was old furniture scattered across the old house but it was all ripped up or broken. To the left
of the room was a locked door that was still in perfect condition and was reinforced very well.
Despite the attempts of two of the four members of their group of four teenagers, the door remained
locked and closed. Going straight through the arch in front of them led to the dining room which is
where the bad things began. When they entered the dining room they started to hear a very quiet
whispering that made the hair on that back of your neck stand straight up. Almost like there was
someone right there next to you talking in your ear when there wasn't. Trying not to pay much
attention to it they group pushed on. There were two doors in this room, one right next to the other,
but leading to different rooms. When one of them tried to open the right–hand door the floor broke
and one of the group fell down into it. A few seconds later a very pale woman in a red dress
floated up from the hole in the floor that had claimed their friend. The woman floated up to the

I've been here in California since 1905, I've been here for 2 years now and never thought in my
whole life I would be spending the whole night in a haunted house that was just two streets away
from my home. It all started when me and my friends were hanging out at Lucas's house. We got
bored and decided to play dares. We did a couple of funny dares, but then things got serious.
"Thomas, I dare you to spend the night at the old haunted house that is two streets away from us."
Matt said smirking like an evil villain. "No way" I said, not wanting to go to that creepy old
house. "You have to, it's a dare" Mark demanded and I sighed. "For how long?" I asked and they
all looked at each other then smiled. "A whole night" I thought for a bit and had an Idea. "one
condition" They leaned forward. "Someone has to come with me" they all looked at each other.
"No way I'm going, I have one little sibling." Lucas said. "I have a single mom and I'm her only
child." Mark said. I looked at Matt. "get your stuff ready Matt, We're spending the night at a
haunted house" I said smiling. Matt has two parents and has 5 brothers and sisters not to mention
he's the middle child. So he had no reason to stay. "No way I'm doing that, this is my dare I gave to
you!" He defended himself "doesn't matter, you're going." I demanded and grabbed two bags for me
and Matt. "karma sucks doesn't it?" I smirked at him and he gave me a glare. My plan went well.
Mark and Lucas dropped us off and I and Matt just stood there staring at the house. "I hate you
very much right now" Matt said and I smiled "oh well, let's go" We jumped over the gate and
grabbed the flashlight. As I flashed the light I saw a black figure through the window curtains.
"Did you see that?" I asked Matt and he looked at me. "See what?" I was probably just seeing things.
"Uh, nothing. It's probably just my mind playing games." I said and we walked to the front door. I
moved the vines that were blocking the door and opened the door slowly. "It smells like a dead
animal in here" Matt said and we walked inside. "What if it's not dead animal?" I asked, looking at
Matt just to tease him a bit. He looked at me with his big eyes and I laughed. "Shut up!" He

I'm just getting in the door, and I say to myself "oh course it has to be a two story house." As I

then again nothing was there. I walked all the way up the stairs, and I started looking in the rooms. In

All I saw was this black creature, and what looked like fur all over it's body. I saw glowing red eyes,
and teeth sharp as razors. This creatures couldn't have been more than three feet tall, but I can tell

really was a full grown black female English Mastiff. It was a scary–ish dog, but I couldn't tell if she
was nice, because she was growling at me. She had silver fawn eyes, and a black muzzle. I was
correct about the height, but the part where she looked scary was way off. I tried to get closer to
her, but

People should not leave looking–glasses hanging in their rooms any more than they should leave
open cheque books or letters confessing some hideous crime. One could not help looking, that
summer afternoon, in the long glass that hung outside in the hall. Chance had so arranged it. From
the depths of the sofa in the drawing–room one could see reflected in the Italian glass not only the
marble–topped table opposite, but a stretch of the garden beyond. One could see a long grass path
leading between banks of tall flowers until, slicing off an angle, the gold rim cut it off.
The house was empty, and one felt, since one was the only person in the drawing–room, like one of

suppose, to pick something light and fantastic and leafy and trailing, traveller's joy, or one of those
elegant sprays of convolvulus that twine round ugly walls and burst here and there into white and
violet blossoms. She suggested the fantastic and the tremulous convolvulus rather than the upright
aster, the starched zinnia, or her own burning roses alight like lamps on the straight posts of their
rose trees. The comparison showed how very little, after all these years, one knew about her; for it
is impossible that any woman of flesh and blood of fifty–five or sixty should be really a wreath or a
tendril. Such comparisons are worse than idle and superficial–they are cruel even, for they come like
the convolvulus itself trembling between one's eyes and the truth. There must be truth; there must
be a wall. Yet it was strange that after knowing her all these years one could not say what the truth
about Isabella was; one still made up phrases like this about convolvulus and traveller's joy. As for
facts, it was a fact that she was a spinster; that she was rich; that she had bought this house and
collected with her own hands – often in the most obscure corners of the world and at great

First, you need to know that I like getting scared, to a certain extent. I like the adrenaline, but
sometimes it's overwhelming. If someone asked me if I liked haunted houses I would tell them
"Eh". I like the idea of a haunted house. I would go to one. Although every time I go to a haunted
house I get nervous. It's like a switch turns my brain off when I agree to go and when I'm about to
go in, it flips on. As I found out today. Meanwhile, it was a cool Friday in Michigan. I was bouncing
up and down in my chair as I scarfed down a hearty breakfast. I couldn't wait. "Hey, (Anonymous)
do you want to go to Erebus? It's a haunted house," my stepmom asked me as she walked into the
room.,"It'll be fun!"
"That's what they all say," a part of my mind confirmed. "NOOO, do it!!!!!" another part argued.
"Okay. Why not," I replied. "I won't get terrified anyway," I boasted as I kept scarfing down my
pancakes. Later in the day, it was time to go, at last. It was around 5:00 pm. I felt this deep down
feeling in my gut that felt like a blow to the stomach. I made an excuse and told myself it was
hunger. Or at least that's what I told other people. My stepmom walked into the room and started to
put on her shoes. "Come on guys we need to go!" she yelled down the hall. "Ok," my brother, my
step–sister, and I answered. "Erebus, here I come!" I cheered. We all pushed each other as we all
tried to sprint to the door.
Finally, we got in the car and we started our drive that felt like an eternity. I looked over and saw
the light from the sun shining onto my brother's glasses. It made his blue shirt look green. We were
all super pumped and ready to go scare ourselves to the bone. There is one thing you need to know
about my stepmom. My stepmom, (Anonymous), grew up with a dad that loved the thrill of a scare.
The adrenaline coursing through his veins. So (Anonymous) grew up going to haunted houses and
watching horror movies. She loved a great scare and wasn't scared at all.
45 minutes passed by as we pulled into Erebus. I stared at this huge brick building on the side of a
busy street. I looked over and saw different color cars passing by. I heard the scary music playing
from the citadel. There was a giant devil's head

Descriptive Essay About Haunted House
When I walked into the haunted house to explore it. The old porch was creaking I was shaking.
As I walked it the door slammed behind me. I got scared to try to open the door there was no
budging . I ran to the back door of the house, it was looking too, there was no way I was getting out.
I thought to myself "this house is haunted".
I decided to look around the house and see what it was like. There were four bedrooms, two
bathrooms, A kitchen, living room, and a den. I just figured out there was an up and a downstairs. I
decided to be brave and take a look upstairs. As I walked up the stairs the stairs creaked as I was
shaking, scared that I would fall in. BOOM!!!!!!!, a loud noise I hear. The house was so scary I was

me " Are you staying for breakfast". I said back "Sure ". We ate dinner and I thought that it would be
fun to take them out to do something. I asked " would you like to go out and do something". The
boy said " dad can we go". The dad said " I guess that would be fine" .
They went and got ready while I got the car started. We were in the car I asked " would you guys
like to go to water or shopping for clothes or something". The little boy said " can we do both". We
went shopping first the little boy picked out a toy and two outfits. The dad picked out two outfits
and a hat. We went ahead and went to the shoe store. Then we decided to stop and get a drink and
go to the water. I thought it would be fun to buy them a bathing suit and take them to the beach
for a swim. They thought it would be cool. We got to the beach and they were shocked and we
went out while I got ready. They ran to the beach and jumped in. It was like they have never swam
before. They were having a lot, but it was about a few hours later. It was time to go they did not
want to leave. I took them back to their loving home and told them I would come and visit sometime
again. Then my amazing

Haunted House Essay

  • 1. Descriptive Essay On A Haunted House The wind softly blows leaves around the feet of campers in the cool night. Scary stories are read by the dim glow of the campfire and the shadows of the tree branches loom over like hands, threatening to reach out and grab whoever is near the forest's edge. It is the season of horror again. Every year at the end of harvest season, some people believe the walls between our world and the spirit world become thin, giving spirits the ability to cross over. For over 2,000 years, Halloween has been celebrated. In honor of Halloween, haunted houses all over the world open their doors to thousands of thrill seekers. This year I went to three of the most popular attractions in Omaha: Camp Fear, Mystery Manor and Scary Acres to find out which one is the best. To begin with, I attended Camp Fear, a relatively newhaunted house located off of West Maple Road in Elkhorn. Camp Fear offers scary movies for 5 dollars in their nightmare theatre. Z–Bunker is a game all about shooting zombies with paint ball guns. Bloodrush, the forest of terror, is claimed to be the longest and most intense haunted attraction. And if you dare to spend the night, Camp Fear offers a campsite where creatures may crawl out of the shadows to make sure it's visiters do not recieve a good night's sleep. My group and I decided to go through Bloodrush. The wait was roughly 30 minutes, however, I did go on Friday the 13th. I expected it to be busy. The whole attraction lasted a little over a half an hour. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. A Haunted House Analysis In Virginia Woolf's A Haunted House, images of darkness and light have numerous symbolic meanings. Light is associated with the presence of the ghostly couple that roams the speaker's home, but it has symbolic meanings beyond that–it represents the insight and truth the speaker gains from observing the couple. In addition, as is revealed by the last lines of the story and the images of darkness used in the story (which provide a counterpoint to the symbolism of light), light represents the love and happiness that comes from union. Overall, light plays a major role in the development of one of the major themes of the story: human relationships are more valuable and lasting than any tangible riches or treasures. Light imagery is associated with the ghostly couple throughout much of Virginia Woolf's work. For instance, in section 3, the speaker states that she uses the reflection of sunlight in the drawing room window to tell if the ghosts are present. In sections 4 and 5, light seems to describe the ghostly couple itself: "But the beam of the lamp falls straight from the window...Wandering through the house...the ghostly couple seek their joy." By linking the presence of light with the presence of the ghost couple, Woolf uses light as an illuminating and revealing force. The light the ghosts bring with them opens her eyes and mind to presences she would otherwise be ignorant of. Furthermore, the light of the ghosts reveals an important truth to the speaker at the end of the story, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Haunted House Essay High upon a lonely hill surrounded by a great dark forest, stood an ancient, crumbling manor, known as the Haunted House. The windows were all smashed and it looked like the house was used a long time ago and was never used again. The font gates were as old as the hills. It belonged to a greedy old man, he was as short as a stump, he was really grumpy and fat who everyone said he was a wizard. Even though he owned the immense haunted house he didn't dare to go inside because he was frightened like a child in dark, so he lived in the small cottage in the grounds of the manor, with just his black cat for company. He was as lonely as the master who has go to war, but hews happy, because he had a true love. His true love was gold, and he had...show more content... This fellow looked fellow looked a bit to fearless for the wizard's liking. That night, Titan stepped through the rusty gates, as he did the surroundings seemed to change. The air became misty all of a sudden. The weather became cold and when he looked towards the trees, it looked as if they were alive. He turned his concentration away from the trees, which did not freak him at all, and continued his journey up the hill towards the house. Without hesitating, he unlocked the door and went in, as he went in the silent still sinister house, the door slammed shut behind him slowly the gloomy light started fading. A butler appeared from nowhere, he was holding his head under his arms like a ball in his hands. "Jeeves at your service, sir," he said, creepily. "Follow me." "Thank you, my good man," said Titan excitingly, handing him his coat and following him up the creaking staircase without blinking an eye. Ancient portraits followed him with their eyes like human eyes. Titan winked at them as he passed expressing his bravery. An empty suit of armour waved at him. Titan waved back. "Good evening," he said. Jeeves led him on down a murky passage. A heavy door creaked open and they entered a dark bedroom, with a tattered four poster bed. Cobwebs hung from the ceiling and a thick layer of dust covered the furniture. Titan opened the wardrobe and a skeleton came Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Descriptive Essay On Haunted House here's no age limit on scary, as Julie Asmussen can attest. "This is something that brings out the kid in me," Asmussen, 52, said Friday of All Hallows Eve, Naper Settlement's annual haunted house extravaganza that's been attracting thousands of visitors for the last 13 years. ADVERTISING For two nights, a dozen historic houses on the Naperville history museum's 12–acre Naperville campus are transformed into haunted dwellings filled with creepy characters and things that go bump in the night. "Everybody likes Halloween," said Asmussen, of Naperville, who has attended All Hallows Eve for the last five years. "It's like Christmas, and there are always different things to see each time I'm here." Attractions this year ranged from fan favorites, such as the Mummy's Tomb, Frankenstein's Laboratory and Dracula's Lair, to new fare, including the Dark Arts Gallery and ahaunted house based on Chicago author Lindsay Currie's newest book, "The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street." Emma Vodick, the Settlement's public relations and social media coordinator, said preparations for the two–day event had been going on all week prior to Friday's opening night. Staff, performers and volunteers "were all excited to get things under way," she said. "This is a big community event and it's awesome to see the wide range of people that come out," Vodick said. "We had these performances last year featuring the Ohio Burn Unit fire spinners and people would be watching them from outside the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My friends consisted of Mary, riley, and Samantha we had all been friends for a while now and got along pretty well. " So are you guys ready to go to the haunted house yet?" "No but I probably never will be so I guess I am" riley said a little too loudly. "Okay then let's go" Mary said with enthusiasm. So we went off walking towards the haunted house. We blended in pretty well with all the children trick–or–treating because we had all dressed up even though none of us were trick–or–treating. I was wearing a costume that made me look like a demon. Sam was a ballerina, mary was a unicorn, riley was an elf, but the type from lord of the rings. We finally got to the so called haunted house. It was unsettling there was just something about it that none of us could put into words. Maybe we didn't want to know why, maybe we just wanted to act as if nothing was wrong and saying nothing made that real. The house looked as if were falling apart like it would collapse at the slightest of wind. " So I guess we should go in then" Sam almost whispered as if she didn't want us to hear her. " Yes, let's go in" Mary said, but the way she said it was off setting like she had no feelings. Though honestly, I don't think any of us wanted to go in we walked up to the door and pushed. The door opened, but not with ease and when it did it made a loud creaking sound. "This was your idea Mary you go in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Experience in a Haunted House My Experience in a Haunted House – Original Writing I stared at the forgotten ruin as my taxi pulled up outside. It reminded me of a tombstone in a graveyard, overcome with vines; twisting around it like a snake trying to kill its prey. I got out. " 5.55 please mate" stated the cab driver. I exchanged money with him and he drove off. I looked up upon this house with great discomfort. ' Why on earth did I agree to this bet? Spend a night in an old rotten "haunted" house!"' Dinner will be served at 8pm." Said the old man. " Thank you, I'll remember that." He turned away and put his hand onto the knob of the door, he was shutting the door but he stopped in his wake, " By the way Mr. Edding, do not even think about wondering around. You'll never know, something might happen. If you understand, what I mean?" he said strangely with hysterical laughter. "Yeah…" I said nervously. He shut the door and I could hear his incessant laughter echoing down the hallway. I shook my head and started to organize my things. ' Toothbrush…. Toothpaste…. Soap….' I listed, while getting them out of my bag. "CLUNK!" I paused. "CLUNK!" I took a step forward. Suddenly a huge gust of wind came crashing into my bedroom and the two double windows burst open. • 8. The Haunted House In Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Fall of the House of Usher," Poe incorporates a lyric titled "The Haunted Palace," which is about a placid kingdom that turns from a idyllic, celestial, asylum to an insidious sepulcher, home to countless cadavers. The original regent of this tremendous country, Thought, was violated and overthrown by the demons of lunacy, leading to its devastated circumstance. Poe includes this poem to compare his eerie vision of a palace to the once radiant and luminous House of Usher, through the fissures that appear within the sanities of the residents of both households. At one time, the Usher family held dominion over their estates and their minds, but now the mansion has fallen into disarray, with decaying bricks Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Ethan had told me that there was a haunted house on Halloween that was the scariest in town. I was never a big fan of Halloween all the costumes, people coming to your house that's weird. And plus this haunted house we are supposed to go to is right by the woods. "Ethan I don't think i'm going to that place it's right by the woods". Ethan was looking at me like I was crazy, " ARE YOU NUTS! We are going no matter what and we are going to bring James as well". It was finally here the night where people get candy and get scared to death it was time to go to the haunted house. As me Ethan and James are walking to the haunted house we come upon the forest, the damp dark shadowy forest. And of course Ethan makes the idea "hey we should go through the forest for a shortcut" Ethan said. I stopped him right there "we are not going through that forest there is something weird about it" I said. In a mocking voice Ethan makes fun of me, "yeah you shouldn't go those clowns are properly in there". James and Ethan laugh. I said " Alright stop i'm coming". As we start walking I get that nauseated, nervous feeling in my stomach. I get agitated looking around if something were following us, i asked where we were.Ethan's response did not seem confident,I knew it, we were lost. • 10. Descriptive Essay On Haunted House If there was one thing that has grasped my attention as much as it caused me nightmares, it was haunted houses. Not the type of haunted houses that pop up around Halloween and frighten you with organized jump scares. I mean real haunted houses with a backstory. The kind where someone ended up being murdered on the property and the person's spirit lingers years later. That's what I am on the search for. My interest started after I had accidently watched My Paranormal Encounter while channel surfing at the age of 10. Ever since that day I've been doing research on paranormal activity: attempting to discover a way to conquer my fear. It's been a decade since I first began and myself, along with a few friends, have been preparing for almost a year to further my research by visiting a real haunted house. Convincing myself that I was ready for this was more difficult than convincing the others involved. Even now as I sit in the back of some beat up van I feel like we should go back. I shifted my attention from the view of cornfields outside the window to the front where Tony and Cheryl sat jamming out to some song by Guns n' Roses with the windows down. They started waving their hands around like fools, attempting to keep everyone lively since we had been on the empty road for several hours without stopping much. Behind me, Kurt opened the mini cooler, which sat upon miscellaneous crumbs that had always coated the colorless carpet, and snickered. "Who wants a Coke?" he hollered to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My friends and I wanted to go to a haunted house without telling our parents. It was going to be the 5 of us, but at the last minute, our 5th friend thought her parents were going to find out so she didn't go. She was right. A couple weeks later all our parents found out and we all got grounded. I told my parents that I was going to the home football game. My friend Lexi picked me up at Four O'clock to go to the game because we volunteered to work at the concession stand. We wanted to make sure that people saw us at the game so if our parents asked if we went there we technically wouldn't be lying to them. The three of us got picked about Six O'clock by my friend Payne who lives in Geneseo. Payne was only 16 but there was going to be 4 of us all together in the car so he said we needed to take the back roads to Peoria because there would be fewer cops there than on the interstate. We got to the haunted house at Six O'clock. Payne had to drive around a little because he couldn't find a parking spot. As we walked up to pay for the haunted house there were weird, creepy people following us up to the booth. We got our tickets and then we had to sit down for like 10 minutes because they were waiting for the line to go down. Finally, they told us we could go get in line and we waited for 2 hours in line. When we got close to the front of the line Payne got a text from his mom asking where he was so he told her the truth. • 13. Narrative Essay About A Haunted House Tick, tock, tick, tock, the sound of the clock is the only sound in the house. I look up at the clock at it says 2:55am. Which is strange because it has felt like we have been here for hours, from the time we broke into the house, which was at 12:30am. No one else can be seen or heard, so I am all alone now. It was Halloween, and my friends and I, were bored of the typical Halloween house party and wanted to do something that will spike our adrenalin. So we decided to break into the house at the end of the street. The house at the end of the street was considered to be haunted, as it was the first house ever built in the neighborhood, long time before any of the other houses. It was believed to have been built in the 1800's and no one has...show more content... One might expect that there would still be some noise, but nothing. The lights of the houses were also off, making the street pitch black and only the moon illuminating the street. As the three of us turned around to face the house, there was suddenly a light, in the right upstairs window. We all stared at each other in amazement, as this was not possible. Jake was the first of us to sprint off towards the house, the door surprisingly was not locked and creaked open. We burst in, at first glance the entrance was like anything that you would expect, dusty, dirty and neglected. We raced upstairs, not paying too much attention to the rest of the house. We reached the room were the light was on, however only to find that there was no light. Not only were there no physical lights as seen in today's modern houses. However there was a small paraffin lamp on the shelf, which had no trace amounts of paraffin and was ice cold, meaning it, had not been used in a long time. As I was busy investigating the paraffin lamp, I did not notice both Jake and Spencer left the room. I turned around to face the rest of the room and to my horror, I was left alone. I casually walked out into the hallway, and shouted "Hey Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Descriptive Essay On Haunted House As the days get shorter, the trees burst into a riot of different hues. Red. Orange. Yellow. Jack O' Lanterns light up neighborhood porches. Little goblins and princesses roam the streets, while candy wrappers softly blow in the wind. For over 2,000 years, Halloween has been celebrated, with old and new traditions. In honor of Halloween, haunted houses all over the world open their doors to thousands of thrill seekers. This year I went to three of the most popular attractions in Omaha: Camp Fear, Mystery Manor and Scary Acres to find out which one is the best. To begin with, I went to Camp Fear, a relatively newhaunted house located off of West Maple Road in Elkhorn. • 15. Descriptive Essay On The Haunted House When they walked through the doors of the haunted house in the graveyard, it had an instantly spooky aroma. The door itself was wooden and starting to rot away and fall from its hinges, although that kind of describes the whole house, falling apart. To the right there was a small staircase with ten or eleven steps leading upstairs and a doorway below them leading downstairs. There was old furniture scattered across the old house but it was all ripped up or broken. To the left of the room was a locked door that was still in perfect condition and was reinforced very well. Despite the attempts of two of the four members of their group of four teenagers, the door remained locked and closed. Going straight through the arch in front of them led to the dining room which is where the bad things began. When they entered the dining room they started to hear a very quiet whispering that made the hair on that back of your neck stand straight up. Almost like there was someone right there next to you talking in your ear when there wasn't. Trying not to pay much attention to it they group pushed on. There were two doors in this room, one right next to the other, but leading to different rooms. When one of them tried to open the right–hand door the floor broke and one of the group fell down into it. A few seconds later a very pale woman in a red dress floated up from the hole in the floor that had claimed their friend. The woman floated up to the chandelier on the ceiling and sat there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Descriptive Essay On A Haunted House I've been here in California since 1905, I've been here for 2 years now and never thought in my whole life I would be spending the whole night in a haunted house that was just two streets away from my home. It all started when me and my friends were hanging out at Lucas's house. We got bored and decided to play dares. We did a couple of funny dares, but then things got serious. "Thomas, I dare you to spend the night at the old haunted house that is two streets away from us." Matt said smirking like an evil villain. "No way" I said, not wanting to go to that creepy old house. "You have to, it's a dare" Mark demanded and I sighed. "For how long?" I asked and they all looked at each other then smiled. "A whole night" I thought for a bit and had an Idea. "one condition" They leaned forward. "Someone has to come with me" they all looked at each other. "No way I'm going, I have one little sibling." Lucas said. "I have a single mom and I'm her only child." Mark said. I looked at Matt. "get your stuff ready Matt, We're spending the night at a haunted house" I said smiling. Matt has two parents and has 5 brothers and sisters not to mention he's the middle child. So he had no reason to stay. "No way I'm doing that, this is my dare I gave to you!" He defended himself "doesn't matter, you're going." I demanded and grabbed two bags for me and Matt. "karma sucks doesn't it?" I smirked at him and he gave me a glare. My plan went well. Mark and Lucas dropped us off and I and Matt just stood there staring at the house. "I hate you very much right now" Matt said and I smiled "oh well, let's go" We jumped over the gate and grabbed the flashlight. As I flashed the light I saw a black figure through the window curtains. "Did you see that?" I asked Matt and he looked at me. "See what?" I was probably just seeing things. "Uh, nothing. It's probably just my mind playing games." I said and we walked to the front door. I moved the vines that were blocking the door and opened the door slowly. "It smells like a dead animal in here" Matt said and we walked inside. "What if it's not dead animal?" I asked, looking at Matt just to tease him a bit. He looked at me with his big eyes and I laughed. "Shut up!" He whispers yelled. "I'm just Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Descriptive Essay On A Haunted House I'm just getting in the door, and I say to myself "oh course it has to be a two story house." As I walk into the house I get shivers up my spine, and I know something is in the house I just don't know what. As me being the curious one I know I have to keep going, and there I was standing in the doorway of a "haunted house." I looked all through the living room, but I didn't see anything. I was as scared as a jack–rabbit that had heard the howl of a wolf. I was just about to step on the first step, but I heard something run right past me. I turned around quicker than the speed of light, but then again nothing was there. I walked all the way up the stairs, and I started looking in the rooms. In the last room I checked I saw something crouched down in the corner. All I saw was this black creature, and what looked like fur all over it's body. I saw glowing red eyes, and teeth sharp as razors. This creatures couldn't have been more than three feet tall, but I can tell you it is the scariest thing I had ever see in my whole life. It came out of the corner, and I said to myself, "I am so stupid, I should have know ghost aren't real," but I was completely wrong. What it really was a full grown black female English Mastiff. It was a scary–ish dog, but I couldn't tell if she was nice, because she was growling at me. She had silver fawn eyes, and a black muzzle. I was correct about the height, but the part where she looked scary was way off. I tried to get closer to her, but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Creative Writing: The Haunted House People should not leave looking–glasses hanging in their rooms any more than they should leave open cheque books or letters confessing some hideous crime. One could not help looking, that summer afternoon, in the long glass that hung outside in the hall. Chance had so arranged it. From the depths of the sofa in the drawing–room one could see reflected in the Italian glass not only the marble–topped table opposite, but a stretch of the garden beyond. One could see a long grass path leading between banks of tall flowers until, slicing off an angle, the gold rim cut it off. The house was empty, and one felt, since one was the only person in the drawing–room, like one of those naturalists who, covered with grass and leaves, lie watching the shyest...show more content... She had gone presumably into the lower garden to pick flowers; or as it seemed more natural to suppose, to pick something light and fantastic and leafy and trailing, traveller's joy, or one of those elegant sprays of convolvulus that twine round ugly walls and burst here and there into white and violet blossoms. She suggested the fantastic and the tremulous convolvulus rather than the upright aster, the starched zinnia, or her own burning roses alight like lamps on the straight posts of their rose trees. The comparison showed how very little, after all these years, one knew about her; for it is impossible that any woman of flesh and blood of fifty–five or sixty should be really a wreath or a tendril. Such comparisons are worse than idle and superficial–they are cruel even, for they come like the convolvulus itself trembling between one's eyes and the truth. There must be truth; there must be a wall. Yet it was strange that after knowing her all these years one could not say what the truth about Isabella was; one still made up phrases like this about convolvulus and traveller's joy. As for facts, it was a fact that she was a spinster; that she was rich; that she had bought this house and collected with her own hands – often in the most obscure corners of the world and at great Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Descriptive Essay On A Haunted House First, you need to know that I like getting scared, to a certain extent. I like the adrenaline, but sometimes it's overwhelming. If someone asked me if I liked haunted houses I would tell them "Eh". I like the idea of a haunted house. I would go to one. Although every time I go to a haunted house I get nervous. It's like a switch turns my brain off when I agree to go and when I'm about to go in, it flips on. As I found out today. Meanwhile, it was a cool Friday in Michigan. I was bouncing up and down in my chair as I scarfed down a hearty breakfast. I couldn't wait. "Hey, (Anonymous) do you want to go to Erebus? It's a haunted house," my stepmom asked me as she walked into the room.,"It'll be fun!" "That's what they all say," a part of my mind confirmed. "NOOO, do it!!!!!" another part argued. "Okay. Why not," I replied. "I won't get terrified anyway," I boasted as I kept scarfing down my pancakes. Later in the day, it was time to go, at last. It was around 5:00 pm. I felt this deep down feeling in my gut that felt like a blow to the stomach. I made an excuse and told myself it was hunger. Or at least that's what I told other people. My stepmom walked into the room and started to put on her shoes. "Come on guys we need to go!" she yelled down the hall. "Ok," my brother, my step–sister, and I answered. "Erebus, here I come!" I cheered. We all pushed each other as we all tried to sprint to the door. Finally, we got in the car and we started our drive that felt like an eternity. I looked over and saw the light from the sun shining onto my brother's glasses. It made his blue shirt look green. We were all super pumped and ready to go scare ourselves to the bone. There is one thing you need to know about my stepmom. My stepmom, (Anonymous), grew up with a dad that loved the thrill of a scare. The adrenaline coursing through his veins. So (Anonymous) grew up going to haunted houses and watching horror movies. She loved a great scare and wasn't scared at all. 45 minutes passed by as we pulled into Erebus. I stared at this huge brick building on the side of a busy street. I looked over and saw different color cars passing by. I heard the scary music playing from the citadel. There was a giant devil's head Get more content on HelpWriting.net
