in all aspects of your life.
From helping you focus on professional goals, to opening the doors to
romance, the vision board is an invaluable tool.
Vision boards go by many different names, you may know them as dream
boards, wish boards, treasure maps, life collages, wisdom collages or life
wheels. No matter what they are called these amazingly effective
visualization devices have been with us for millennia.
Cave paintings depicting successful hunts allowed the hunters to visually
experience their conquests in advance, leading to greater successes in
the field.

2. Throughout the centuries, the ancient art of visioning (using external
visual cues to co-create your future with the universe), has been practiced
by brilliant and creative minds, inspiring geniuses such as Leonardo
DaVinci and Walt Disney.
Today, major corporations such as Boeing and influential organizations
like the United Nations and World Bank use visioning and vision boards
for planning and inspiration. Recently, even the media has also embraced
the concept of vision boards. They have been featured on Oprah, Larry
King Live, the Ellen Degeneres show other shows which have confirmed
that vision boards have the power to change your mind and change your
life.
In writing my book The Vision Board : the secret to an extraordinary life, I
was fortunate to interview more than 75 leading wisdom leaders and
spiritual advisors. I spoke with Olympic athletes, television and Hollywood
media personalities and celebrities ranging from shaman and author Lynn
“Medicine Woman” Andrews to Aras Baskauskas, the $1 million dollar
winner of CBS Survivor Panama: Exile Island. All of these celebritiess and
millions of other people from all walks of life are using vision boards and
harnessing the power of left brain (logical) and right brain (intuitive) skills
to co-create their lives with the universe.
Vision boards come in all shapes and designs, I have seem them on
everything from scrap paper to canvas to digital screensavers laptops,
iPods and iPhones.
Most people are familiar with Vision Boards that look like a collage made
from pictures torn from magazines as well as photographs and personal
memorabilia, but vision boards variations also can include paintings,
mixed-media, vision journals, workbooks and community vision billboards.
No matter what media a person uses to create their individual vision
board, they generally include these elements, Visuals: photos, magazine
images, drawings, photographs etc. Affirmations: optimistic sayings,
inspirational quotes, mantras and mottos that encourage good habits and
changes in your life for the better (often known as intentions). What
makes affirmations so powerful is that they are “I Am” statements written
in the present tense even if they are goals you are still working on such as
“I am powerful” or “I am prosperous”. Embellishments: these include
stickers, foil stars, glitter, ribbon and personal memorabilia such as
concert tickets, travel folders and maps. Power Words such as freedom,
peace, abundance, prosperity and happiness. These words evolve from a
personal or group visioning session.

3. Creating a vision board can be a form of meditation in and of itself, as you
select and place your images and objects you are opening a pathway
between the left and right brain, a pathway which enables you to combine
the power of your creativity with the strength of your logic in ways that will
surprise and empower you toward changing your life.
