XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is a markup language that was designed to transport and store data. It separates data from HTML so that data can be stored in XML files and changes to the underlying data will not require changes to HTML. XML simplifies data sharing, transport, and platform changes because XML data is stored in plain text format. Many new Internet languages like XHTML, WSDL, WAP, and RSS have been created using XML.
