4. RESEARCH ACTIVITY Look at these 3 TV
websites
In pairs discuss:
• What are your first impressions of the website?
• Describe the design/ style of the site
• What are its features/contents?
• What is the aim of the website?
• What type of user is it aimed at?
• How does it attract its user?
• Does it achieve its aim?
• Can you easily navigate around the site?
• What frustrations do you have with the site (if any)?

5. Now access the same websites on your mobile phone
How do they differ in style and content?

6. Summarise – What makes ‘a good website’
Consider
• Interesting/informative
• Fun/entertaining
• Variety of content
• Design - looks colourful/stylish
• Appealing to its target audience?
• Easy to use/navigate?
• Interactive (2 way communication)
• Acts as a hub to other related sites/apps/stores

According to OCR there is a limit to what help teachers can give, and
one example of that is:
Teachers must not practise the learner’s chosen
media brief with them”
• Therefore ONLY in order to learn how to create a website, we will
choose a different TV genre from music magazine show
