Banks (2008) said that there were two kinds of multicultural education paradigms.
In the field of multicultural discourse, two multicultural education paradigms were often
discussed (Banks, 2008).
Regarding the two multicultural education paradigms, Banks and Banks (2008)
concluded that “these two paradigms have very different assumptions, research findings, and
implications for teaching in multicultural classrooms” (p. 53).
There are various ways of multicultural education implementation. Among them “cultural
deprivation paradigm” and “cultural difference paradigm” are the two popular ones (Banks,
2008, p. 53).
I was impressed by the two multicultural paradigms in that “these two paradigms have
very different assumptions, research findings, and implications for teaching in multicultural
classrooms” (Banks & Banks, 2008, p. 53).
