Logical Fallacies

 Grade 11
Aged 15 to 16
20 Students- 8 Boys, 12 Girls
Specific Entry :
Discussion of Fallacies
Main Objective
At the end of a one week period, my
students will be able to identify, describe,
and create at least four different logical
fallacies with 85% accuracy. In order to do
this, my students will participate in classroom
and group analysis of speeches and ads and
then complete their own analysis via a video
essay.
Daily Breakdown
 Day One :
 Discussion and Introduction of Fallacies
(Slippery Slope, Hasty Generalization, Post Hoc, Begging the
Claim, Circular Argument, Either/Or, Ad Hominem, Red Herring,
Straw Man)
 Assign Video Essay
 Day Two :
 Analysis of Speeches (YouTube, Radio, Podcasts)
 Day Three :
 Analysis of Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
 Analysis of Advertisements (Television and
Magazine)
 Day Four :
 Workshop
 Day Five :
 Video Essay Presentations
