WEGA is a special academy for 50 students per grade at Westside High School focused on engineering. Students in WEGA take core classes together and incorporate engineering lessons. They go on special field trips and hear speakers not open to other students. To apply, students fill out a packet, get teacher recommendations, write an essay, and submit all materials by the deadline. Students must have taken Algebra I and be zoned or eligible to attend Westside High School. WEGA students can still participate in electives like sports, band, theater, and robotics club.
