3. Hello, everyone!
My name’s...; I’m a private English teacher
and I hold in-person and online classes over
Skype.
I live in Rio Preto and love my job.
I’ve been teaching for over 20 years now.
4. INTRODUCTION
English is simple and very easy to learn.
You already know a lot of words, don’t you?
Let’s try it, shall we?
HOME, STOP, SORRY, ON, OFF, LOOK, TIME,
SPORT, MAGAZINE, PERFORMANCE, INTERNET,
etc. On top of that, there are words that are common
with other languages. For example: total, general,
usual, hotel, and so on. There are those which are
made up English with a little change: cidade = city,
universidade = university; noção = notion, emoção =
emotion,etc,.
5. METHODOLOGY
Of course, to have a good vocabulary is important,
but that’s not all. The key is to communicate
effectively.
Let’s see how a little boy, say, a 1-to-2-year-old one,
learn his native language. He cannot speak and write
at first. However, he learns by listening and looking
at what is being referred to. He understands the
situation/action because it’s repeated over and over.
At first, he isn’t very sure, but as time goes by he will
be.
6. Like a child (boy/girl) you can also learn a
foreign language. So, instead of only relying on
words and translation, we will use other
elements of communication such as gestures,
objects/drawings, images, sounds, smell and
taste, and writing. By using these elements
together you’ll boost and speed up your
communication skills and the way you get the
message across.
7. Materials

8. TOOLS TO START THINKING
AND SPEAKING IN ENGLISH

a/an...
How do you say”...........”in
English/Portuguese?
Repeat, please!
Sorry!

9. Working with opposites. For example:

Good = not bad;
Sad = not happy
Using words similar (to). For example:

boys.
