2. Introduction:
In this presentation I will be analysing the results from the target
audience questionnaire
I will be using the results to target my specific target audience so that I
know who I am aiming at while creating my magazine
I will be explaining how I am going to use the results from each
particular question to make my magazine appealing towards my target
audience.
I have aimed to gather results from people of the ages 16-19 years, I
have chosen this particular age group because I am from this age
group and I feel that when creating the magazine, I can aim to create a
product that will appeal to people of a similar age to me.
I have gathered results from 1000 different people and I have gone to
places such as the local library and classes around school, I also went
into town and asked people I felt were in this age group.
3. 1. The first question
The first question I asked was what gender the questionnaire filler is, I
did this because I feel that people of different genders may like
different types of music and they may purchase magazines for different
reasons, so I felt this was a base that I need to cover.
4. The result
As you can see from the pie chart I asked 479 (48%) females and
521(52%) males.
5. 2. The second question
The second question I asked in the questionnaire was ‘if you do, how
often (per month) do you buy music magazines?’ And I asked this
question to see how much money people spend on magazines, as this
would give me an idea on weather people like to stick to the same
magazine or they buy many different types of magazines.
6. The result
As you can see from the pie chart the majority of people (697 (%))
asked bought 1-2 magazines per month, with 79 of the people asked
not buying any at all and the remaining 224 buying 3-4 per month and
nobody asked had exceeded this limit.
7. Conclusion
In conclusion I feel that most people stick to one magazine and buy
that, whereas a small majority buy more than 2. If I want to attract the
majority of people with my magazine I need to offer something that will
be of interest to them and which their current magazine doesn't
provide, here I am going back to the target audience situation and I
need to make sure that I do all I can to attract my target audience to
my magazine.
8. 3. The third question
The third question asked on the questionnaire was one where the
person had to fill it in themselves, and on this one I read through the
questionnaires and picked out the four main points that were stated by
most people. By using these points it can help me realise why people
purchase music magazines and I can use these points within my
magazine to make it more appealing to the target audience.
9. The result
1. People purchase magazines to keep updated on what their favourite
artists are up to
2. News about what is happening within the music industry
3. Reviews on albums and music videos so that people know weather
or not their worth purchasing
4. Information on concerts, so people can keep up to date on where
their favourite artists are and when they can go see them live
All these features need to be implemented into my magazine as this
will mean that the finished product will be more appealing to the target
audience and this will mean that they are more likely to purchase the
magazine.
10. 4. The fourth question
I needed to know what genre of music my target audience likes so to
find this out I asked ‘if you had to pick one, what would be your
favourite genre of music?’ and by using this I can pin point what genre
my magazine will be which will appealing to the majority of my target
audience.
12. Conclusion
As you can see Hip-Hop and Rap are the most popular genres with
50% of the people asked choosing these genres; so after this I have
come to the conclusion that I will be doing a magazine on these
genres, as this will appeal to the majority of the target audience
13. 5. The last question
In the last question I asked the person to state what the key selling
points are for them in a magazine; and I got a similar response to the
third question as people felt that if these features are included within a
magazine, they will be more interested by the magazine and purchase
it.
14. In the next post I will be doing a conclusion where I will be stating what
techniques and features I will be using to attract my target audience to
my magazine and I will also be doing a product proposal where I will
be outlining the main features of the magazine.
