The Prompt: In this post, share a particular
story/assignment/module from this course that you
identified with. Why did it resonate with you? In what
ways have you seen yourself change/learn over the
course of this class? Your post should be at least 7-10
sentences long.
I think the best example of a story that really resonated
with me in this course would be Barefoot Gen from
Module 7. Although I’ve never lived through anything
as apocalyptic as an atomic bomb being dropped on
my city, the images and text in this graphic novel really
helped me imagine what that would be like. As I was
reading, I found myself constantly thinking about what
I would do in that situation and how I would feel. It
really had an impact on me! As far as my own learning
in this course, I think I can show strong evidence for
how much my ability to think about and analyze a text
has improved. For example, I can’t just read a poem or
read an article without considering the structure or
theme. I never noticed those things before when I read,
so I think it is really exciting to be able to do that now! I
have also learned a lot about improving my writing
since I have had to practice so much in this class. I
always dreaded writing assignments before, but I feel
like I am a better writer with all this practice.
