2. INTRODUCTION:
Currently, most of the existing car parking system are
manually managed and a little inefficient.
In urban areas, where number of vehicles is higher as
compared to the availability of parking spaces, a lot of time
being wasted in searching for parking locations.
Hence Smart parking system is a proposed method that
users can reserve their parking places using SMS.
3. OVER VIEW:
Aparking reservation system is developed in such a way that
users book their parking slots through short message services
(SMS).
The SMS sent will be processed by microcontroller. It will
reply the confirmation of booking by giving the details of
reservation like password and slot number.
The password will be used to enter the parking area and valid
for a certain period of time.
4. WHAT IS SMART PARKING(SPS):
Web-based advanced parking system
Parking spaces generated by lines
using LED lighting technology
creating real-time spaces for cars,
motorcycles and other vehicles
Preset by operator or computer system
Simple payment with octopus, credit
card or online pre-payment
5. SAMPLE SURVEY ON DRIVERS NEEDS
Drivers want to know
the location of car park nearby
how to reduce waiting time for car park during
holidays or peak parking hours
how to enter the target car park without stuck in
traffic congestion
comparison of parking fees of every car park the
length , width , height and ground conditionof
parking space
the number of parking space available and their
location on each floor in car park
6. WHY SMART PARKING
People cannot find parking in popular
places. Especially during the holidays
(Christmas shopping), traffic is always
bad
People cannot locate their car in large
parking lots (Theme parks)
Difficulty finding parking spots
Parking for cars of different sizes
Maximize utilization space (concerts
or other functions
7. INTERNAL PARKING
Pre-booking parking space (daily/monthly)
Cost alert via SMS or smart phone
application
Owners can make use of online application
to monitor usage
Recording amount of electricity used for
operation
Just-in-time lighting system to conserve
energy (motion detection)
Alert capabilities for safe pedestrian lanes
and theft prevention
8. EXTERNAL PARKING
Time expiry alert via
smart phone
application or SMS
Automated parking-
tiet fining system
LED lights can clearly indicate
whether a space is available for
parking (removes confusion from
restricted time period or parking
zones)
11. PARKING RESERVATION
A message is received if
there is a availability
of parking slots.
A message is received if there
is no availability of
parking slots.
Conformation message is
received with security code
Shows the message on the expired session
12. PARKING ENYRY AND EXIT:
LCD Display in Active Mode LCD Display in Password Mode LCD Display in Password Entry
LCD Display in Successful
Access Mode
LCD Display in Failed
Access Mode
13.
14. WORKING
User booking of parking spot through SMS.
GSM modem gets the message and fed to microcontroller
The AVR microcontroller process the requested
message and check the availability of parking slots
using IR sensor
AVR Microcontroller will reply the confirmation of
booking by giving the password and slot number.
The counter for the reservation time will automatically
start for sending message.
The password will be used to enter the parking area
18. CONCLUSION
As conclusion, the objectives of this project have been
achieved. The hassle in searching for available parking
lots has been completely eliminated by reserving the lots
via the SMS system.
The designed system could be applied everywhere due to
its ease of usage and effectiveness.
