THE MIRACLE WORKER
3. • MORAL VALUES,MORAL ISSUES OR OTHER ISSUES GAIN FROM THE MOVIE
The moral values from this movie describe how to be strong as a teacher , how
overcome our own disability, and to learn, grow, and become somebody new. It is good
to know who you are and what you can do yourselves to reach the level that you want in
life. There is no reason to back up and stand at the loose ends. When a person is
determine of doing something, nothing can stop them and their will of achieving their
dreams. In this movie, both Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller dreams are achieved by hard
work they did together in learning process. Human never stop learning until the day they
die.
• This film shows how, despite her disabilities, Helen Keller learned the meaning of
symbolic language. With Anne Sullivan as her teacher, Helen Keller learned to read, write
and speak. She graduated from Radcliffe College with honors in 1904 and became world
famous for her triumph over her handicaps.
• Annie wrote: “I have thought about it a great deal, and the more I think, the more certain
I am that obedience is the gateway through which knowledge, yes, and love, too, enter
the mind of the child.”
4. • The book of Proverbs bears witness:
• “The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to
his mother.” (Proverbs 29:15)
• “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far
from him.” (Proverbs 22:15)
• “Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to
discipline him.” (Proverbs 13:24)
• Children experience love and security when they are lovingly disciplined. Moral
training paves the way for all other learning.
Helen Keller wrote this poem:
They took away what should have been my eyes
(But I remembered Milton's Paradise).
They took away what should have been my ears,
(Beethoven came and wiped away my tears).
They took away what should have been my tongue,
(But I had talked with God when I was young).
He would not let them take away my soul -
Possessing that, I still possess the whole.
Helen keller’s still believe that there is always a hope ,she learns how to speak
so that others can understand him and he worked on improving her
communication skills and studied regular academic subjects . Let us remember
that there is a place of learning.
5. • PERSONAL INSIGHTS
This is one of the movie that is most remarkable to me, I can say that disability
is not a hindrance of success, we can learned through our hard work and
passion on how we acquire learning this could be possible if we are eager to
learn to discover something new and different. Miss Annie thought the power
of love and determination with Helen as she teach Helen through hand
symbol.
“Miracle Worker” serves as a another hope for every teacher and learners
that there are things we believed to be impossible, but became possible
because we exerted sufficient perseverance into it. I believe and appreciate the
passion and commitment of Annie Sullivan to tutor a deaf, mute and blind child
in the person of Helen Keller. Annie Sullivan is just one out of many teachers
out there who have given their life to become catalyst for well –rounded
development of the differently able children. the movie provided us the unique
and effective teaching strategies that are well designed to provide special
education to those children with multiple sensory impairments. As soon to be
teacher, I should be equipped with competence and be prepared for
possibilities that I soon to be encountered as I practice my teaching profession
later.
6. I really asked myself if it is still possible for a person to learn if he/she has
multiple sensory impairments such as the defects of the sight, hearing and
speaking. Hence, after I viewed the movie, I know that ,that kind of disability
will exist in this world. they can communicate effectively with other with
some strategies/ technique uses like Helen and Annie did they perform a
hand symbol so that they will understand each other. We are the people that
made by god to live and to learned not by the discrimination just because we
have some disabilities like that , as a teacher someday we should not let our
learners feel neglected just because they have that kind of handicap.. For
me Anne prove herself, and she is all the more determined to
succeed. Anne and Helen who performs a “miracle.” everything in Helen for
Anne is very special she loved very much Helen she proved her self that
she can make it, that Helen will learn better through using hands ,through
object and through patience, he believe that she will change Helen specially
the attitude, mental and physical.
7. The movie emphasizes how we are truly love the learners or a child with patience
,providing knowledge specially when we encounter some disability of the child and
how we collaborate with them in a good way in effective way that in return they acquire
a vast learning. I will motivate my learners as soon as I become a teacher like miss
Anne did with full determination that she can make it. She will transform the live of the
child. As a teacher someday we should look what is the strength and weaknesses of the
child so that we are able to know what is the capacity of the learners.
I know that we are the future of the learners but sometimes we encounter this type of
learners, learners do not care how much you know until they know how much you care
they only want your affection. We need know that our learners has
an individual needs remember that if you are not willing to learn, no one can help you
and if you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.
