2. INTRODUCTION
• Kathy Levinson has been a senior fellow of American Leadership
Forum for nearly two decades, in addition to serving on their board
for some of that time. In 2012, she joined the Horizons Foundation
as an advisory board member. Kathy Levinson also works with a
number of philanthropic organizations, such as Equality California.
Equality California (EQCA) represents the interests of the state’s
LGBTQ community before various institutions of power in the state.
Every year, EQCA hosts the Equality Awards to recognize
individuals and organizations that have made significant progress
towards furthering or maintaining equality for both California and
the LGBTQ community at large. Awards ceremonies are held
annually in Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, and
Palm Springs.

3. EQCA AWARDS
• Keynote speakers at past EQCA Equality Awards events
include visionary leaders like California gubernatorial
candidate Gavin Newsom and Wisconsin senator Tammy
Baldwin. A few of the EQCA awards include the Vanguard
Leadership Award, the Equality Visibility Award, and the Ally
Leadership Award. Upcoming EQCA awards ceremonies will
occur this year in Los Angeles on September 29 and Palm
Springs on October 13.
