4. ABSTRACT
The school forms a social group in which the person is inserted soon during the
childhood and has his first interpersonal experiences and relationships with people
from different cultures and identities. It’s there where social relations start and where
people organize concepts and look for maturity by the exchanges and so they form
their own identity, from the close contact with others. Like the family, the school is
responsible for future kinds of behavior in the social environment, permitting or not
adaptations, helping the child to maintain relationships and more human
apprenticeship, to form a unique identity and develop his self-image. Discovering the
deafness in a child, the family gets shocked and desperate; the anguish comes due
to the lack of communication with a “different person”. This shock is not different in
the school range, because when the school community comes across a deaf student;
its first impulse is the rejection, generally. No doubt, this feeling causes anguish and
suffering to this kind of student, and these feelings can be irreversible, even after a
long period of time. This way, it’s important the creation of researches to identify the
identity crisis for the which the deaf student goes through, whose the goal is to reveal
to the mankind that this crisis, which is of a teenager, is not an exclusive discuss of
the listener. For this crisis also influences directly in the deaf student behavior, since
this is a human being as any other and that is different from the others just by the fact
of capture the information which the world transmits to him in an unusual way, the
gesture – the visual one not the oral one.
Key words: deaf, social inclusion, identity, type
