General Feedback
Contrast!
• Ensure that text colour has enough
contrast from background colour
• Legibility should be the most
important priority!
• Not sure if elements have enough
contrast? Try the Contrast Checker -
http://snook.ca/technical/colour_contr
ast/colour.html
• A good guideline is that colour
contrast is AA Compliant (remember
the OADA class…)
Good contrast:
Not enough contrast:
General Feedback
Consistency
• Maintain a consistent design
from screen to screen or
page to page for links,
buttons and the overall look
and feel
• Consistency helps users feel
confident that they’re going
where they want to go, and
know where they are
Consistent use of colour, icons across design:
General Feedback
“Safe” logo space
• Give the logo enough space so it
doesn’t feel crowded
• Allow it to be the prominent element
that it needs to be
• The challenge with this assignment
was that the client’s primary logo
(the circle) is difficult to make
smaller, this is an example of a
common challenge as you work
with different logos on the job…
Space around logo:
Logo is a bit too tight to
the other elements:
General Feedback
Use caution when putting text
over an image
• Be aware that legibility of text
may decrease
• Legibility is a critical design
consideration - users must be
able to read text easily, quickly
and accurately to have a good
experience
Text can get
difficult to read:
Good solution
is to add a solid
colour:
General Feedback
and… remember to meet the
requirements of the
assignment
• Above all, do what the client
(or in this case, the
assignment) requires
• Or, have a good rational as
to why you didn’t do what the
client requested…
