2. To understand the location and distribution of Climate Zones. To understand what an ecosystem is. WALT WILF All: to be able to locate the climate zones on a world map. To understand the key words : living environment, rain forest, biome. Most: To be able to show understanding of the links within a simple ecosystem. Some: To be able to suggest reasons why ecosystems might change .
6. DESERT CLIMATE HOT ____, COOL TO COLD _____, THERE IS LITTLE TO NO ____ IN THIS CLIMATE, THEREFORE IT IS VERY ____. DESERTS COVER ABOUT 1/5 OF THE EARTH’S SURFACE. Example:
7. Temperate Climate COOL _________, WITH ______ WINTERS, ______ RAINS IN THE WINTER. Example:
11. Activity 3: Terms you need to sort, know. . . Environment The non-living environment The living environment A natural ecosystem A community of plants and animals unaffected by human activity. The natural or physical surroundings where plants and animals live. Animals, birds, fish, insects and people. Rocks, soil, the air and climate. … and learn!!
12. An Ecological System The word ecosystem is short for ecological systems. An ecosystem includes all of the living organisms in a specific area. These systems are the plants and animals interacting with their non-living environments (weather, Earth, Sun, soil, atmosphere). An ecosystem's development depends on the energy that moves in and out of that system. You could have an entire ecosystem underneath a big rock. On the other hand, you could be talking about the overall ecosystem of the entire planet (biosphere). An ecosystem can be as small as a puddle or as large as the Pacific Ocean. That ecosystem includes every living and non-living thing in the area. It is several small communities interacting with each other . CLIMATE ROCKS AND SOIL LIVING CREATURES VEGETATION Activity 4: Describe the links between a simple ecosystem.
