This page can be seen as simplistic and stylish as it has a white background and only the one image on it, although the writing at the side suggests otherwise, it is in big red writing and beneath it has information on mosh pits. This is slightly surprising as Zac Efron, the high school musical star who's biggest fan base is a bunch of young girls, doesn't particularly represent mosh pits and rock. The photograph of him shows some of his stomach attracting the female audience. In addition there is some other information in the little side captions, with one of them saying “M.I.A.” which recently has become a rather big band and especially as the songs by “M.I.A.” are aimed at similar audience’s as Zac Efron. There is a broad, sans serif mast head which stands out especially due to it being white writing on a black page. This magazine has a similar layout to most magazines with a star in the middle of the page attracting the targeted audience. The general colouring of the page is red, which could link into the fact that it is an opera magazine, as red can be seen as a very pure and luxurious colour attracting the more upper class people, as they are the audience that are most likely to listen to that kind of music. -4286255972175The whole page seems to be colour co-ordinated, all black and yellow, which may be trying to create a cool look which, allegedly, is what “Drake” is trying to pull off. This catches the audiences eye almost immediately as there is a very famous pop star on the front, who might be an idol for teenage girls and even some boys. The initial thing that the cover if this page does is attract the audience it is aimed at, which in this case seems to people who like rap.-4286252809875-374650-558800ygukgkfjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj Much more simple style of magazine cover, there is a large heading at the top saying the name of the magazine. The black background with yellow boarder and Jimi wearing red jeans is quite powerful and would really make the magazine stand out. In the centre of the page is the very famous artist – Jimi Hendrix. He is in the very centre and covers the whole magazine which reveals that the majority of the content is most probably about him. It seems slightly ironic that the word in the middle of the page is ‘live!’, and at the time of this magazine, 1987, Mr Hendrix was dead. The exclamation mark adds to the feeling of importance and therefore gets the audience’s attention. The Headline of this magazine is the name of it – Kerrang!. This instantly sets a broad target audience which is predominantly teenagers up to about people in the late 20’s. The picture is tainted and of a man in a pretty freaky mask and sets the audience to be people who like heavy music with lots of feeling and anger. Also, it says “slipknot” because the audience may have not knock that slipknot wear masks and scary stuff all the time. The general colours used are black and white with parts in red which stands out. Also, the red may represent blood, which is something slipknot and other heavy bands use to add to the feeling of craziness and heaviness.I -2197103028950-311150-531495This magazine front cover represents a similar style as the previous Kerrang cover. Korn are also a rather angry crazy band and this is demonstrated by having a picture of them on the front wearing typically dark clothes.Additionally there is a quote from one them or maybe some story on the inside saying “I wanted to kill myself” which is big news and could grab the reader and make them want to read more. There are also some little side captions with information of what is inside the magazine, for example information on ther band You Me at Six, which also are considered a alternative/rock band, and therefore the target audience is set out more clearly. -2197106416675fgyu
This magazine cover illustrates the trademark pictures for what the band “Gorillaz” display themselves in. This would be a good picture to have on the front because at the time of the magazine the “Gorillaz” were still unmasked to the public, so to have cartoon pictures would work better than something such as a hologram or whatever. Also the fact that there is an interview with them would highly interest the views of any reader as they may be intrigued to know more about the, what seeming, mythical band who are kept so undercover. There are additionally names of some other relatively big bands above the picture which implies that there will be some other information on those bands making the passer buy want to buy the magazine. -219710-532765
