Kelly Greenberg grew up immersed in the world of sports. She has 12 siblings, 11 of whom were involved in high school basketball. One of her brothers, Chip, was inducted into the Philadelphia Big Five Hall of Fame and the La Salle Hall of Fame. After playing high school basketball at Archbishop Wood High School and being inducted into the school's Hall of Fame, Kelly Greenberg joined the Explorers at La Salle University. By her senior year there, she had risen to team captain; that year, she guided her team to a season record of 28-3.
After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in English, Greenberg decided to continue pursuing her love of basketball, this time from the coaching side.
