1. Year 9 world maps homework
Below are some websites with world map games to help you learn in a relatively fun way!
For homework, please play at least 2 or 3 of them, and EVALUATE them for me.
This is the first time I have done this, so I need to know how good you find the different
sites (some of the links might be broken – let me know if so)
Write (or type or cut&paste) the web address you are evaluating (and your name)
then answer these questions in full sentences:
(1) How enjoyable was it?
(2) How good was it for learning the locations?
(3) What were the best things about it?
(4) What could be improved?
(5) Where would you rank it compared with the other ones you tried? (e.g. “The best”
or “Good but not as good as…” or “Average” or “one of the worst” or “the worst”) It
would be helpful if you could summarise in a sentence why you ranked it like that.

(a fun little game, get the questions right and see your teacher eaten by sharks)

http://www.mape.org.uk/startower/world/index.htm - straight-forward, helps you to learn the
continents and oceans and 40 key countries – try all 4 – I like the ‘world has fallen apart’ one
especially

(Year 9 NC maps 1 – cities)
http://www.maps.com/games/alienz.html - the ‘toughie’ here is Chad (clue: it’s in central Africa) -
also, there is a bit of a time-delay, so wait a few seconds after you have clicked
http://www.maps.com/games/mapquiz.html - won’t keep you occupied for long, but you can learn
some important facts about the different continents with this one
