What is Company Culture?
Company Culture is your company’s personality. It is the shared beliefs, values and practices that
make up your company and the unique way everybody at the company sees the rest of the world.
A properly implemented company culture is necessary to help companies develop a well-defined
market position. It’s what you stand for and what you want to achieve. However, having a company
culture in place might be even more valuable from your client’s perspective. That is the way your
company differentiates itself from everybody else.
It is only through your company culture that value can be applied in everyday business. However,
there is the danger that having those values can restrict progress. So, sometimes your company
culture has to be given room to evolve and change when it’s absolutely necessary. When that
happens and a new philosophy is ingrained in the business, you have to be careful not to disrupt
anything in the progress department. By being clear with your values, your staff knows where they
stand which will cut down a lot of uncertainty.
Your Mission Statement
Be sure to share your mission statement with every employee. It’s one of the first signs that you
want to improve your company’s culture. Share the company mission, purpose, and goals with the
people who work for you. This gives them a sense of belonging, and a connection to the big picture.
It is much more exciting to share a mission with everyone instead of just accomplishing an
unrelated work task. If employees have a sense of contribution to the purpose and to the success of
a business, it makes everybody’s job feel more important.
Maximize Employee Talents
Give employees the opportunity to maximize their talents. Be sure to focus on the strengths and
talents of each employee; on developing who they really are. When someone gets to do something
that they do best, every day, then they are going to be satisfied with their work. And as each
employee grows in the organization, look to continually encourage them to develop their strengths
with meaningful goals, challenges and advancements. Training and career development
opportunities should definitely be encouraged whenever possible. This will contribute to every
employee’s sense of self-actualization and will be extremely rewarding.
Praise Your Employees
Be sure to give recognition, and a lot of praise. A managing style of only instilling fear and
negativity will eventually stifle company productivity. Without feedback, employees become
complacent. On the other hand, countless studies have proven that people are a lot better motivated
by the use of positive, rather than negative, feedback. Instead of focusing on an employee’s
weaknesses, you should focus on their strengths. And it’s important to praise them when it’s
deserved. Recognizing work well done with rewards also goes a long way toward keeping
employees motivated, and when they’re motivated, they will give their all.
Reward Your Team
Rewards don’t have to be monetary. They can be something as simple as applauding an employee at
a staff meeting for a noteworthy accomplishment, or just writing a thank-you note to them for an
admirable effort. Rewards can be a personalized cake or a gift certificate, things that will be
appreciated almost as much as a big bonus.
However, when mistakes do happen, harsh criticism is the worst thing to do. It will only result in an
employee losing his motivation and stunt his growth. Be subtle instead. Use constructive criticism
that will help your employee improve his job performance. Tell him you are confident in their
ability to correct the situation and let them know they are a valued member of the team.
Encourage Opinions & Ideas
Be sure to encourage employees’ opinions and ideas. Seek out the opinions and ideas of everyone
with the goal of implementation, and employees will feel truly valued as an integral part of the
company’s success and future. Use suggestion boxes, meetings and group discussions. Those are
just a few ways in which employees can contribute their ideas. But be sure to listen, so they feel that
their feedback is welcome at any time.
People have a strong sense of pride working for a company that has integrity and a good reputation,
and is producing something worthwhile or important. Be a business everybody can be proud of.
Allow for a work environment that includes autonomy and trust. Although employees need to know
when and how tasks should be performed, they can’t work to their full potential when they think
they are being overly micromanaged. This type of management will create an atmosphere of
distrust, eventually leading to workers giving less of themselves, becoming less effective and; as a
result, their creativity and motivation are soon diminished.
Giving your employees autonomy and trust, along with accountability, is a far more effective
method, and it allows them to improve in their efficiency, quality of work and enjoy a real sense of
personal accomplishment on-the-job. A properly implemented company culture will help your
company develop a well-defined market position. A clearly-defined culture makes recruitment and
training much easier, and it gives you a recognized position within your industry, allowing you to
change the whole nature of our business while remaining one and the same. In short, it will open up
new markets and allow you to keep pace with your competitors.
Inspire yourself, and inspire your employees with a positive company culture. Together your
accomplishments can be far greater than you ever envisioned.

A company’s culture - This article talks more about company than an employee. A corporate culture
is more related to an employee than to a company. You could perhaps go out of the curve and give
some best ideas for putting in the best culture in a company. Something like what employees love,
look out for and are delighted about that makes them come to the workplace everyday with full

  • 1. What is Company Culture? Company Culture is your company’s personality. It is the shared beliefs, values and practices that make up your company and the unique way everybody at the company sees the rest of the world. A properly implemented company culture is necessary to help companies develop a well-defined market position. It’s what you stand for and what you want to achieve. However, having a company culture in place might be even more valuable from your client’s perspective. That is the way your company differentiates itself from everybody else. It is only through your company culture that value can be applied in everyday business. However, there is the danger that having those values can restrict progress. So, sometimes your company culture has to be given room to evolve and change when it’s absolutely necessary. When that happens and a new philosophy is ingrained in the business, you have to be careful not to disrupt anything in the progress department. By being clear with your values, your staff knows where they stand which will cut down a lot of uncertainty. Your Mission Statement Be sure to share your mission statement with every employee. It’s one of the first signs that you want to improve your company’s culture. Share the company mission, purpose, and goals with the people who work for you. This gives them a sense of belonging, and a connection to the big picture. It is much more exciting to share a mission with everyone instead of just accomplishing an unrelated work task. If employees have a sense of contribution to the purpose and to the success of a business, it makes everybody’s job feel more important. Maximize Employee Talents Give employees the opportunity to maximize their talents. Be sure to focus on the strengths and talents of each employee; on developing who they really are. When someone gets to do something that they do best, every day, then they are going to be satisfied with their work. And as each employee grows in the organization, look to continually encourage them to develop their strengths with meaningful goals, challenges and advancements. Training and career development opportunities should definitely be encouraged whenever possible. This will contribute to every employee’s sense of self-actualization and will be extremely rewarding. Praise Your Employees Be sure to give recognition, and a lot of praise. A managing style of only instilling fear and negativity will eventually stifle company productivity. Without feedback, employees become complacent. On the other hand, countless studies have proven that people are a lot better motivated by the use of positive, rather than negative, feedback. Recognizing work well done with rewards also goes a long way toward keeping employees motivated, and when they’re motivated, they will give their all. Reward Your Team Rewards don’t have to be monetary. They can be something as simple as applauding an employee at a staff meeting for a noteworthy accomplishment, or just writing a thank-you note to them for an admirable effort. Rewards can be a personalized cake or a gift certificate, things that will be appreciated almost as much as a big bonus. However, when mistakes do happen, harsh criticism is the worst thing to do. It will only result in an employee losing his motivation and stunt his growth. Be subtle instead. Use constructive criticism that will help your employee improve his job performance. Tell him you are confident in their ability to correct the situation and let them know they are a valued member of the team. Encourage Opinions & Ideas Be sure to encourage employees’ opinions and ideas. Seek out the opinions and ideas of everyone with the goal of implementation, and employees will feel truly valued as an integral part of the company’s success and future. Use suggestion boxes, meetings and group discussions. Those are just a few ways in which employees can contribute their ideas. But be sure to listen, so they feel that their feedback is welcome at any time. People have a strong sense of pride working for a company that has integrity and a good reputation, and is producing something worthwhile or important. Be a business everybody can be proud of. Allow for a work environment that includes autonomy and trust. Although employees need to know when and how tasks should be performed, they can’t work to their full potential when they think they are being overly micromanaged. This type of management will create an atmosphere of distrust, eventually leading to workers giving less of themselves, becoming less effective and; as a result, their creativity and motivation are soon diminished. Giving your employees autonomy and trust, along with accountability, is a far more effective method, and it allows them to improve in their efficiency, quality of work and enjoy a real sense of personal accomplishment on-the-job. A properly implemented company culture will help your company develop a well-defined market position. A clearly-defined culture makes recruitment and training much easier, and it gives you a recognized position within your industry, allowing you to change the whole nature of our business while remaining one and the same. In short, it will open up new markets and allow you to keep pace with your competitors. Inspire yourself, and inspire your employees with a positive company culture.
