Vince Lombardi got his start in coaching after playing semi-professional football and attending Fordham University. He began as an assistant coach at a Catholic high school in New Jersey. Later, in 1959 at age 45, Lombardi accepted the position of Head Coach and General Manager of the Green Bay Packers. His leadership characteristics included working hard, being tough, and playing together as a team.
