U.A.E: Dubai reduces 33% of carbon emissions in 2020
WAM + NewBase
Dubai has reduced its carbon emissions by 33% in 2020, exceeding the target of the Dubai Carbon
Abatement Strategy 2021 by more than double, a senior official has said.
The Dubai Carbon Abatement Strategy aims to reduce carbon emissions by 16% by 2021. This new
achievement emphasizes that Dubai is moving steadily towards becoming a carbon-neutral
economy by 2050, said a Wam news agency report.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said: "All
organisations under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy work together to achieve
the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice
President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a global hub for green economy and
sustainable development and achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net
Zero Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of energy from clean energy sources by 2050, as

well as the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy, which aims to reduce electricity and water
demand by 30% by 2030.
"The achievement of reducing carbon emissions by 33% in 2020 emphasises that we are on the
right track to achieve the strategic objectives to become a carbon-neutral economy by 2050 to
ensure a brighter and more sustainable future for generations to come."
Al Tayer explained that the pioneering programmes and initiatives implemented by the organisations
under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy have contributed to this significant
reduction in carbon emission.
Factors for this achievement include increasing the share of clean and renewable energy capacity,
which is now 11.38% of Dubai’s energy mix, the expansion of district cooling which saved 650
gigawatt-hours of electricity in 2020, incentives that have increased the use of electric vehicles, and
other pioneering initiatives to reduce carbon emissions in Dubai.
Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said that this
achievement underlines the importance of the joint efforts of individuals and organisations to support
national and global efforts to mitigate climate change and global warming.
He noted that Dubai has a plan for the next 30 years that covers the energy and water sectors,
transportation, industry, buildings, and waste. The plan also includes all the necessary enablers,
regulations and R&D, the report said.

U.A.E: Adnoc reveals oil discoveries in Block 4 concession
The National – Fareed Rahman + NewBase
Adnoc has discovered significant conventional oil, condensate and gas resources of up to 1 billion
barrels of oil equivalent from an exploration well in Abu Dhabi’s onshore Block 4 concession.
The block is operated by Japan's Inpex Corporation and the discovery includes substantial Murban
oil resources, Adnoc said in a statement on Tuesday on its LinkedIn page. The discovery is the first
from the concession area.
“The next step is to appraise and further quantify these resources, as well as to explore the
promising potential in and around onshore Block 4,” it said. The exploration well was drilled after
new insights from Abu Dhabi’s ongoing combined onshore and offshore 3D seismic survey that
uses technology to accurately interpret the acquired data, said Adnoc.
"This achievement underscores how Adnoc’s accelerated exploration and development programme
is unlocking future value for the UAE," it said. Adnoc awarded Block 4 exploration rights to the

Japan Oil Development Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Inpex, in 2019 after a competitive
bid round.
Inpex is investing up to Dh646 million ($176m), including a participation fee, to explore and appraise
oil and gas opportunities in the block that covers an area of 6,116 square kilometres, stretching from
Abu Dhabi city to the boundary with Dubai.
Adnoc aims to remain one of the lowest-cost producers and lowest carbon emitters in the oil and
gas industry even as it increases its crude production capacity. It plans to achieve gas self-
sufficiency for the UAE, as well as expand its downstream business and strengthen its trading
capabilities.
The state oil producer also plans to significantly increase its investment in hydrocarbons and will
raise its output capacity to 5 million barrels per day by 2030. It has awarded a number of contracts
to different companies to increase its production.
Earlier this month, Adnoc's
board approved plans to spend
Dh466 billion between 2022 and 2026
to expand its upstream production
capacity and downstream portfolio,
as well as its low-carbon fuels
business and clean energy ambitions.
It also revealed a "significant"
increase in national reserves of 4
billion stock-tank barrels (STB) of oil
and 16 trillion standard cubic feet of
natural gas. These additional
reserves increase the UAE’s
hydrocarbon reserves base to 111
billion barrels of oil and 289 trillion
standard cf of natural gas, Adnoc said.
Meanwhile, AIQ, Adnoc’s artificial
intelligence joint venture with Group 42, and Beyond Limits, said in a separate statement that they
have signed a preliminary agreement to collaborate in the development of new AI solutions for the
oil and gas industry.
The partnership will help companies in the oil and gas sector to boost performance, optimise
operations and increase revenue through AI, the two companies said. “This collaboration will allow
both companies to strengthen their portfolios of enterprise-grade AI solutions for the energy
industry,” Omar Al Marzooqi, chief executive of AIQ said.
The partnership will support companies in their energy transition efforts, he said. On Tuesday,
Adnoc Logistics and Services – the state oil producer's maritime and logistics unit – signed an
agreement with Borouge that will allow it to transport the petrochemicals company's polymer
products from Khalifa Port to other international markets.
"The new agreement will optimise the manufacturing and distribution value chain for Borouge and
improve cost per unit, enabling competitive downstream growth of Adnoc's petrochemicals and
polymers business," the companies said.
The partnership will also significantly boost the UAE in-country value as 85 per cent of the
agreement value is expected to flow back into the local economy.

The signing of the project contract is a key milestone of both companies’ joint effort over the past
year to use their complementary technology, engineering and project execution strengths to develop
green hydrogen production facilities.
The realisation of the project leverages thyssenkrupp’s large-scale technology supporting Air
Products’ development of green hydrogen for sustainable transportation, chemicals and power
generation.
Dr Samir J Serhan, Chief Operating Officer at Air Products, said: "This project milestone with
thyssenkrupp furthers our strong progress at Neom to deliver carbon-free hydrogen on a massive-
scale in the kingdom and for the world."
"The development and execution of this innovative megaproject is one of many required to drive a
successful energy transition, and we look forward to continuing to develop, build, own and operate
facilities that help address the world’s significant energy and environmental challenges. This project
is the kickoff to become a frontrunner in the green hydrogen economy," he added.
Denis Krude, CEO of thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers, said: "As a world market leader in
electrolysis we bring in two decisive factors to realise such gigawatt projects: With our large-scale
standard module size and gigawatt cell manufacturing capacity per year together with our Joint
Venture partner De Nora we are able to deliver large capacity projects today."

Block 5 offshore … Source: QatarEnergy
A consortium comprising affiliates of QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil signed an exploration and
production sharing contract ('EPSC') with the Republic of Cyprus for the offshore Block 5 located
southwest of the island.
This is QatarEnergy’s second exploration block in the Republic of Cyprus, in addition to Block 10,
which was awarded to the same consortium in 2017 and resulted in the 'Glaucus' gas
discovery announced in February 2019 with estimated in-place resources of 5 to 8 trillion cubic feet
of gas. Further assessments are planned over the coming months to further refine this estimate.
Under the terms of the EPSC, QatarEnergy will hold a 40% working interest in Block
5 while ExxonMobil will be the operator and will hold a 60% working interest. Commenting on the
signing, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the
President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said:
'We are pleased with the signing of this EPSC, which expands our footprint in Cyprus. As confirmed
by our discovery in Block 10, this region is promising and has very good potential for hydrocarbon
exploration.
We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the government of Cyprus and with our long-term
strategic partner ExxonMobil to contribute to the exploration of natural resources in the Republic of
Cyprus, and bring a significant addition to our growing international portfolio.' Block 5 covers an

U.S. LNG export capacity will be world’s largest by end of 2022
Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, database of U.S. LNG export facilities
U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity has grown rapidly since the Lower 48 states first
began exporting LNG in February 2016. In 2020, the United States became the world’s third-largest
LNG exporter, behind Australia and Qatar. Once the new LNG liquefaction units, called trains, at
Sabine Pass and Calcasieu Pass in Louisiana are placed in service by the end of 2022, the United
States will have the world’s largest LNG export capacity.
The following new LNG export capacity additions will come online by the end of 2022, according to
announced project plans:
 Train 6 at the Sabine Pass LNG export facility. Train 6 will add up to 0.76 billion cubic feet
per day (Bcf/d) of peak export capacity. Train 6 began producing LNG in late November; the
first export cargo from this train is expected to be shipped before the end of 2021.
 Calcasieu Pass LNG. This new export facility has 18 liquefaction trains with a combined peak
capacity of 12 million metric tons per annum (1.6 Bcf/d). Commissioning activities at
Calcasieu Pass LNG started in November 2021; the first LNG production is expected before
the end of this year. All liquefaction trains are expected to be operational by the end of 2022.
The nameplate, or nominal, capacity of a liquefaction facility specifies the amount of LNG produced
in a calendar year under normal operating conditions, based on the engineering design of a facility.
Peak LNG production capacity is the amount of LNG produced under optimal operating conditions,
including modifications to production processes that increase operational efficiency.
In October 2021, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved requests to
increase authorized LNG production at the Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi LNG terminals by a
combined 261 billion cubic feet per year (0.7 Bcf/d).
The terminals will achieve these increases by optimizing operations, including production uprates
and modifications to maintenance. As of November 2021, we estimate that U.S. LNG nominal

liquefaction capacity was 9.5 Bcf/d and peak capacity was 11.6 Bcf/d. This peak capacity includes
uprates to LNG production capacity at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi.
By the end of 2022, U.S. nominal capacity is expected to increase to 11.4 Bcf/d, and peak capacity
will increase to 13.9 Bcf/d, exceeding capacities of the two largest LNG exporters, Australia (which
has an estimated peak LNG production capacity of 11.4 Bcf/d) and Qatar (peak capacity of 10.4 Bcf/d).
In 2024, when construction on Golden Pass LNG—the eighth U.S. LNG export facility—is
completed and the facility begins operations, U.S. LNG peak export capacity will further increase to
an estimated 16.3 Bcf/d.The latest information on the status of U.S. liquefaction facilities, including
expected online dates and capacities, is available in our database of U.S. LNG export facilities.

EU Energy Crunch Spurs Record Amount of Clean-Power Supply Deals
Bloomberg - Will Mathis
Stung by soaring energy costs this year, some of the world’s biggest companies are piling into long-
term deals for renewable power to lock in cheaper supplies.
Corporate agreements to buy
solar and wind energy in Europe
have risen about 70% to a
record in 2021 as rocketing gas
and coal costs drive up power
bills, according to RE-Source,
an industry-led group promoting
such deals. The promise of
price stability amid a volatile
market -- plus the need to meet
green targets -- has given
renewables a competitive edge
over fossil fuels.
Europe is facing an energy
crunch as economies reopen,
boosting demand at a time
supply just can’t keep up. Gas and power prices have surged this year, prompting industrial giants
from chemicals maker BASF SE to fertilizer producer CF Industries Holdings Inc. to slow down or
even halt production. And the crunch is set to last -- just this week German and French electricity
prices for next year reached fresh records.

“I’ve had a huge uptick in inquiries from corporates in various stages of panic,” said Phil Dominy,
director of power and utilities at Ernst & Young LLP, who helps companies negotiate the
agreements. “Once you factor in all the costs, you’ve got free wind and solar. It’s ultimately cheaper.”
This year companies have signed deals to buy 6.1 gigawatts of clean energy in Europe, up from 3.6
gigawatts in 2020, data compiled by RE-Source show.
Rising demand helped push up the cost of such power purchase agreements. Prices for wind and
solar deals were up about 7% in the third quarter of 2021 from a year earlier, according to LevelTen
Energy, which analyzed data on 204 price offers from 91 renewable energy projects across Europe.
“There’s pent-up demand and companies are just plowing ahead regardless,” said Helen Dewhurst,
an analyst at researcher BloombergNEF.
Sharp Swings
The increase in costs is still way below what companies buying in the spot market have experienced.
Power prices have more than tripled in Germany this year and quadrupled in France. Traders expect
the sharp swings in markets to continue.
“For all customers – big or small – that want to ensure that they have a stable price, they can sign
contracts,” Christian Rynning-Tonnesen, chief executive officer of Norwegian electricity
producer Statkraft AS, said in an interview last month. “For those who want to buy in the spot market,
they are likely to experience volatility in the time to come.”
The plunging cost of wind turbines and solar panels in recent years has helped to make renewables
the cheapest form of power in much of the world.
While an upswing in materials prices this year -- plus higher shipping rates -- have roiled the market,
that cost inflation remains far below the growth in European wholesale electricity prices.
Tech Giants
Demand for corporate power purchase deals has long been driven by tech giants such as
Amazon.com Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, which need vast amounts of renewable electricity to
keep their data centers running while meeting green goals. This year, such agreements have
attracted more companies, particularly in Europe, as businesses seek a long-term hedge against
fluctuating energy prices in an increasingly electrified world.
Among them, BASF has struck a series of clean-power deals across Europe, while agricultural
giant Cargill Inc. agreed to buy electricity from a Dutch wind farm. Kimberly-Clark Corp., maker of
Kleenex tissues and Huggies diapers, agreed to purchase power from a U.K. wind farm to cover
80% of its electricity needs in the country.
Corporate PPAs take months to negotiate, and the persistence of high energy prices in Europe this
winter could help drive a flurry of such agreements next year as well. Demand is now accelerating,
reflecting in part a higher environmental awareness, but also the need to avoid electricity price
spikes, according to Paulo Almirante, head of renewables at French energy giant Engie SA.
“Companies are now coming in full-force to the green power market,” he said

Oil prices slip 1% on bets that crude supply growth will exceed demand
Reuters + NewBase
Oil prices fell for a third day straight on Wednesday on growing expectations that supply growth will
outpace demand growth next year, even though the Omicron coronavirus variant is not seen curbing
mobility as sharply as earlier COVID-19 variants.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 82 cents, or 1.2%, to $69.91 a barrel at 0413
GMT, after losing 56 cents in the previous session. Brent crude futures fell 71 cents, or 1%, to
$72.99 a barrel, after losing 69 cents on Tuesday.
Both contracts slipped more than $1 earlier in the session while Brent's prompt monthly spread
flipped into contango briefly on Tuesday.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) on Tuesday said a surge in COVID-19 cases with the
emergence of the Omicron variant will dent global demand for oil at the same time that crude output
is set to increase, especially in the United States, with supply set to exceed demand through at least
the end of next year.
In contrast, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting (OPEC) on Monday raised its world oil
demand forecast for the first quarter of 2022. "The IEA's bearish view on the market was in stark
contrast to OPEC's more positive view when it released its monthly outlook earlier this week. The

divide suggests volatility is likely to remain high in the short term," ANZ commodity analysts said in
a note.
Energy consultancy FGE said it has a more optimistic outlook than the IEA as the consultancy
expects a smaller surplus of 400,000 barrels per day, based on a comparatively lower demand risk
from Omicron, against IEA's forecast of 1.7 million bpd in the first quarter.
Also weighing on the market is a firming U.S. dollar, which makes commodities priced in the
greenback more expensive for other countries. Markets are awaiting the outcome of a key U.S.
Federal Reserve policy meeting on Wednesday for signs of when the central bank may raise interest
rates.
In another bearish indicator, industry data showed that U.S. crude inventories last week did not
decline as much as expected.
American Petroleum Institute data showed U.S. crude stocks fell by 815,000 barrels in the week
ended Dec. 10, according to market sources, compared with a 2.1 million barrel drop that 10
analysts polled by Reuters had expected.
However, distillate stocks fell by 1 million barrels, compared with analysts' forecasts for an increase
of 700,000 barrels, and gasoline stocks rose by 426,000 barrels, which was a smaller build than
expected.

Fossil-Fuel CEOs Deliver Warning on Energy Transition
Bloomberg
Buoyed by high oil prices, the bosses of the biggest explorers this week laid out a vision for the
energy transition that hinges on more fossil-fuel investment rather than less.
The World Petroleum Congress in Houston, an industry showcase, saw last-minute cancellations
due to the omicron variant, but it didn’t stop a steady stream of senior executives hammering on the
same point: the world will need us for years to come, so let’s invest and produce, or risk more
economically damaging price spikes or even social unrest.
“A halt in investment in oil and gas is misguided,” OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo
said in a recorded presentation to the gathering on Wednesday. Almost $12 trillion in spending is
needed between now and 2045 to ensure adequate crude and gas supplies, without which the world
will see “long-term scars on energy security, affecting not only producers but also consumers.”
Volatile commodity prices and growing inflation anxiety are recasting the narrative around climate
change, just weeks after world leaders hashed out a lackluster deal at the the United Nations
Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.
Natural gas shortages in Europe and Asia, surging fuel prices in the U.S. and concerns over power-
grid reliability are forcing governments to confront difficult choices around transitioning to low-carbon
energy sources.
The contradiction is all too apparent in the U.S., where President Joe Biden asked OPEC and its
allies to increase crude production just months after enacting a wave of anti-oil policies at home
including canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and floating a fracking ban.

The Biden administration’s plea to OPEC “reveals a fundamental truth that should inform any
rationale conversation about the future of energy,” said Chevron CEO Mike Wirth. “Oil and gas
continue to play a central role in meeting the world’s energy needs and we play an essential role in
delivering them in a lower carbon way.”
$75 Crude
Wirth also called for more “optimism” around the transition away from fossil fuels. “Optimism is the
spark of innovation, the catalyst of risk,” he said.
The industry has ample cause for optimism. Even after whipsaw price swings in recent weeks amid
omicron’s spread and supply-shortage concerns, international oil prices are up 45% this year at
about $75 a barrel. Big Oil is making the most free cash flow since crude traded for more than $100
a barrel seven years ago while the U.S. shale industry is reaping record profits.
Signs posted outside the convention center in downtown Houston claimed for the city the mantle of
“energy transition capital of the world.” But a paramount concern for management teams assembled
inside was whether the industry is investing enough in new drilling to meet demand and stabilize
prices.
“Investment is the greatest challenge the oil industry faces today,” said John Hess, CEO at Hess
Corp. “Oil and gas are going to be needed for the next 10 to 20 years and lot of it is going to be
needed.”
Grim Warning
Saudi Aramco’s CEO warned of “chaos” unless governments stopped discouraging fossil-fuel
investments. The Riyadh-based International Energy Forum called on companies to raise spending

to $523 billion a year by the end of this decade to forestall an uncontrolled surge in energy prices
and economic unrest.
That message is unlikely to go down well with policymakers and environmentalists pushing for a
stricter limits on emissions worldwide. But it’s also the new reality as the Northern Hemisphere
heads into winter facing the specter of an energy squeeze and record price hikes.
Focusing purely on supply-side actors won’t arrest climate change, Exxon Mobil Corp. CEO Darren
Woods said in his opening speech to the conference’s 5,000 attendees.
“Narrowly focusing and taking action on one aspect of the challenge could potentially lead to
significant unintended consequences,” Woods said. “The best intentions poorly executed can do
more harm than good.”
Emission Targets
American companies including Exxon and Chevron are much more focused on cleaning up their
own emissions, so-called Scope 1 and 2, rather than those emanating from the use of their products.
In contrast to most of their European peers, the U.S. drillers see those Scope 3 emissions, which
represent the largest part of oil and gas pollution, as the responsibility of consumers.
“This is a massive, massive challenge,” said Mark Little, CEO of Calgary-based Suncor Energy Inc..
“And everybody’s trying to solve that on the supply side and the demonization of the producers, but
at what point are we going to have the real conversation?”

Khaled Al Awadi NewBase for discussion or further details on the news below you may contact us on +971504822502, Dubai, UAE U.A.E: Dubai reduces 33% of carbon emissions in 2020 WAM + NewBase Dubai has reduced its carbon emissions by 33% in 2020, exceeding the target of the Dubai Carbon Abatement Strategy 2021 by more than double, a senior official has said. The Dubai Carbon Abatement Strategy aims to reduce carbon emissions by 16% by 2021. This new achievement emphasizes that Dubai is moving steadily towards becoming a carbon-neutral economy by 2050, said a Wam news agency report. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said: "All organisations under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy work together to achieve the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a global hub for green economy and sustainable development and achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of energy from clean energy sources by 2050, as

Page 2 well as the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy, which aims to reduce electricity and water demand by 30% by 2030. "The achievement of reducing carbon emissions by 33% in 2020 emphasises that we are on the right track to achieve the strategic objectives to become a carbon-neutral economy by 2050 to ensure a brighter and more sustainable future for generations to come." Al Tayer explained that the pioneering programmes and initiatives implemented by the organisations under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy have contributed to this significant reduction in carbon emission. Factors for this achievement include increasing the share of clean and renewable energy capacity, which is now 11.38% of Dubai’s energy mix, the expansion of district cooling which saved 650 gigawatt-hours of electricity in 2020, incentives that have increased the use of electric vehicles, and other pioneering initiatives to reduce carbon emissions in Dubai. Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said that this achievement underlines the importance of the joint efforts of individuals and organisations to support national and global efforts to mitigate climate change and global warming. He noted that Dubai has a plan for the next 30 years that covers the energy and water sectors, transportation, industry, buildings, and waste. The plan also includes all the necessary enablers, regulations and R&D, the report said.

Page 3 U.A.E: Adnoc reveals oil discoveries in Block 4 concession The National – Fareed Rahman + NewBase Adnoc has discovered significant conventional oil, condensate and gas resources of up to 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent from an exploration well in Abu Dhabi’s onshore Block 4 concession. The block is operated by Japan's Inpex Corporation and the discovery includes substantial Murban oil resources, Adnoc said in a statement on Tuesday on its LinkedIn page. The discovery is the first from the concession area. “The next step is to appraise and further quantify these resources, as well as to explore the promising potential in and around onshore Block 4,” it said. The exploration well was drilled after new insights from Abu Dhabi’s ongoing combined onshore and offshore 3D seismic survey that uses technology to accurately interpret the acquired data, said Adnoc. "This achievement underscores how Adnoc’s accelerated exploration and development programme is unlocking future value for the UAE," it said. Adnoc awarded Block 4 exploration rights to the

Page 4 Japan Oil Development Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Inpex, in 2019 after a competitive bid round. Inpex is investing up to Dh646 million ($176m), including a participation fee, to explore and appraise oil and gas opportunities in the block that covers an area of 6,116 square kilometres, stretching from Abu Dhabi city to the boundary with Dubai. Adnoc aims to remain one of the lowest-cost producers and lowest carbon emitters in the oil and gas industry even as it increases its crude production capacity. It plans to achieve gas self- sufficiency for the UAE, as well as expand its downstream business and strengthen its trading capabilities. The state oil producer also plans to significantly increase its investment in hydrocarbons and will raise its output capacity to 5 million barrels per day by 2030. It has awarded a number of contracts to different companies to increase its production. Earlier this month, Adnoc's board approved plans to spend Dh466 billion between 2022 and 2026 to expand its upstream production capacity and downstream portfolio, as well as its low-carbon fuels business and clean energy ambitions. It also revealed a "significant" increase in national reserves of 4 billion stock-tank barrels (STB) of oil and 16 trillion standard cubic feet of natural gas. These additional reserves increase the UAE’s hydrocarbon reserves base to 111 billion barrels of oil and 289 trillion standard cf of natural gas, Adnoc said. Meanwhile, AIQ, Adnoc’s artificial intelligence joint venture with Group 42, and Beyond Limits, said in a separate statement that they have signed a preliminary agreement to collaborate in the development of new AI solutions for the oil and gas industry. The partnership will help companies in the oil and gas sector to boost performance, optimise operations and increase revenue through AI, the two companies said. “This collaboration will allow both companies to strengthen their portfolios of enterprise-grade AI solutions for the energy industry,” Omar Al Marzooqi, chief executive of AIQ said. The partnership will support companies in their energy transition efforts, he said. On Tuesday, Adnoc Logistics and Services – the state oil producer's maritime and logistics unit – signed an agreement with Borouge that will allow it to transport the petrochemicals company's polymer products from Khalifa Port to other international markets. "The new agreement will optimise the manufacturing and distribution value chain for Borouge and improve cost per unit, enabling competitive downstream growth of Adnoc's petrochemicals and polymers business," the companies said. The partnership will also significantly boost the UAE in-country value as 85 per cent of the agreement value is expected to flow back into the local economy.

Page 8 U.S. LNG export capacity will be world’s largest by end of 2022 Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, database of U.S. LNG export facilities U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity has grown rapidly since the Lower 48 states first began exporting LNG in February 2016. In 2020, the United States became the world’s third-largest LNG exporter, behind Australia and Qatar. Once the new LNG liquefaction units, called trains, at Sabine Pass and Calcasieu Pass in Louisiana are placed in service by the end of 2022, the United States will have the world’s largest LNG export capacity. The following new LNG export capacity additions will come online by the end of 2022, according to announced project plans:  Train 6 at the Sabine Pass LNG export facility. Train 6 will add up to 0.76 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of peak export capacity. Train 6 began producing LNG in late November; the first export cargo from this train is expected to be shipped before the end of 2021.  Calcasieu Pass LNG. This new export facility has 18 liquefaction trains with a combined peak capacity of 12 million metric tons per annum (1.6 Bcf/d). Commissioning activities at Calcasieu Pass LNG started in November 2021; the first LNG production is expected before the end of this year. All liquefaction trains are expected to be operational by the end of 2022. The nameplate, or nominal, capacity of a liquefaction facility specifies the amount of LNG produced in a calendar year under normal operating conditions, based on the engineering design of a facility. Peak LNG production capacity is the amount of LNG produced under optimal operating conditions, including modifications to production processes that increase operational efficiency. In October 2021, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved requests to increase authorized LNG production at the Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi LNG terminals by a combined 261 billion cubic feet per year (0.7 Bcf/d). The terminals will achieve these increases by optimizing operations, including production uprates and modifications to maintenance. As of November 2021, we estimate that U.S. LNG nominal

Page 10 EU Energy Crunch Spurs Record Amount of Clean-Power Supply Deals Bloomberg - Will Mathis Stung by soaring energy costs this year, some of the world’s biggest companies are piling into long- term deals for renewable power to lock in cheaper supplies. Corporate agreements to buy solar and wind energy in Europe have risen about 70% to a record in 2021 as rocketing gas and coal costs drive up power bills, according to RE-Source, an industry-led group promoting such deals. The promise of price stability amid a volatile market -- plus the need to meet green targets -- has given renewables a competitive edge over fossil fuels. Europe is facing an energy crunch as economies reopen, boosting demand at a time supply just can’t keep up. Gas and power prices have surged this year, prompting industrial giants from chemicals maker BASF SE to fertilizer producer CF Industries Holdings Inc. to slow down or even halt production. And the crunch is set to last -- just this week German and French electricity prices for next year reached fresh records.

Page 11 “I’ve had a huge uptick in inquiries from corporates in various stages of panic,” said Phil Dominy, director of power and utilities at Ernst & Young LLP, who helps companies negotiate the agreements. “Once you factor in all the costs, you’ve got free wind and solar. It’s ultimately cheaper.” This year companies have signed deals to buy 6.1 gigawatts of clean energy in Europe, up from 3.6 gigawatts in 2020, data compiled by RE-Source show. Rising demand helped push up the cost of such power purchase agreements. Prices for wind and solar deals were up about 7% in the third quarter of 2021 from a year earlier, according to LevelTen Energy, which analyzed data on 204 price offers from 91 renewable energy projects across Europe. “There’s pent-up demand and companies are just plowing ahead regardless,” said Helen Dewhurst, an analyst at researcher BloombergNEF. Sharp Swings The increase in costs is still way below what companies buying in the spot market have experienced. Power prices have more than tripled in Germany this year and quadrupled in France. Traders expect the sharp swings in markets to continue. “For all customers – big or small – that want to ensure that they have a stable price, they can sign contracts,” Christian Rynning-Tonnesen, chief executive officer of Norwegian electricity producer Statkraft AS, said in an interview last month. “For those who want to buy in the spot market, they are likely to experience volatility in the time to come.” The plunging cost of wind turbines and solar panels in recent years has helped to make renewables the cheapest form of power in much of the world. While an upswing in materials prices this year -- plus higher shipping rates -- have roiled the market, that cost inflation remains far below the growth in European wholesale electricity prices. Tech Giants Demand for corporate power purchase deals has long been driven by tech giants such as Amazon.com Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, which need vast amounts of renewable electricity to keep their data centers running while meeting green goals. This year, such agreements have attracted more companies, particularly in Europe, as businesses seek a long-term hedge against fluctuating energy prices in an increasingly electrified world. Among them, BASF has struck a series of clean-power deals across Europe, while agricultural giant Cargill Inc. agreed to buy electricity from a Dutch wind farm. Kimberly-Clark Corp., maker of Kleenex tissues and Huggies diapers, agreed to purchase power from a U.K. wind farm to cover 80% of its electricity needs in the country. Corporate PPAs take months to negotiate, and the persistence of high energy prices in Europe this winter could help drive a flurry of such agreements next year as well. Demand is now accelerating, reflecting in part a higher environmental awareness, but also the need to avoid electricity price spikes, according to Paulo Almirante, head of renewables at French energy giant Engie SA. “Companies are now coming in full-force to the green power market,” he said

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 82 cents, or 1.2%, to $69.91 a barrel at 0413 GMT, after losing 56 cents in the previous session. Brent crude futures fell 71 cents, or 1%, to $72.99 a barrel, after losing 69 cents on Tuesday. Both contracts slipped more than $1 earlier in the session while Brent's prompt monthly spread flipped into contango briefly on Tuesday. The International Energy Agency (IEA) on Tuesday said a surge in COVID-19 cases with the emergence of the Omicron variant will dent global demand for oil at the same time that crude output is set to increase, especially in the United States, with supply set to exceed demand through at least the end of next year. In contrast, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting (OPEC) on Monday raised its world oil demand forecast for the first quarter of 2022. "The IEA's bearish view on the market was in stark contrast to OPEC's more positive view when it released its monthly outlook earlier this week. The Oil price special coverage

Energy consultancy FGE said it has a more optimistic outlook than the IEA as the consultancy expects a smaller surplus of 400,000 barrels per day, based on a comparatively lower demand risk from Omicron, against IEA's forecast of 1.7 million bpd in the first quarter. Also weighing on the market is a firming U.S. dollar, which makes commodities priced in the greenback more expensive for other countries. Markets are awaiting the outcome of a key U.S. Federal Reserve policy meeting on Wednesday for signs of when the central bank may raise interest rates. In another bearish indicator, industry data showed that U.S. crude inventories last week did not decline as much as expected. American Petroleum Institute data showed U.S. crude stocks fell by 815,000 barrels in the week ended Dec. 10, according to market sources, compared with a 2.1 million barrel drop that 10 analysts polled by Reuters had expected. However, distillate stocks fell by 1 million barrels, compared with analysts' forecasts for an increase of 700,000 barrels, and gasoline stocks rose by 426,000 barrels, which was a smaller build than expected.

Page 14 NewBase Special Coverage The Energy world –Dec - 15- -2021 Fossil-Fuel CEOs Deliver Warning on Energy Transition Bloomberg Buoyed by high oil prices, the bosses of the biggest explorers this week laid out a vision for the energy transition that hinges on more fossil-fuel investment rather than less. The World Petroleum Congress in Houston, an industry showcase, saw last-minute cancellations due to the omicron variant, but it didn’t stop a steady stream of senior executives hammering on the same point: the world will need us for years to come, so let’s invest and produce, or risk more economically damaging price spikes or even social unrest. “A halt in investment in oil and gas is misguided,” OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo said in a recorded presentation to the gathering on Wednesday. Almost $12 trillion in spending is needed between now and 2045 to ensure adequate crude and gas supplies, without which the world will see “long-term scars on energy security, affecting not only producers but also consumers.” Volatile commodity prices and growing inflation anxiety are recasting the narrative around climate change, just weeks after world leaders hashed out a lackluster deal at the the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. Natural gas shortages in Europe and Asia, surging fuel prices in the U.S. and concerns over power- grid reliability are forcing governments to confront difficult choices around transitioning to low-carbon energy sources. The contradiction is all too apparent in the U.S., where President Joe Biden asked OPEC and its allies to increase crude production just months after enacting a wave of anti-oil policies at home including canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and floating a fracking ban.

Page 15 The Biden administration’s plea to OPEC “reveals a fundamental truth that should inform any rationale conversation about the future of energy,” said Chevron CEO Mike Wirth. “Oil and gas continue to play a central role in meeting the world’s energy needs and we play an essential role in delivering them in a lower carbon way.” $75 Crude Wirth also called for more “optimism” around the transition away from fossil fuels. “Optimism is the spark of innovation, the catalyst of risk,” he said. The industry has ample cause for optimism. Even after whipsaw price swings in recent weeks amid omicron’s spread and supply-shortage concerns, international oil prices are up 45% this year at about $75 a barrel. Big Oil is making the most free cash flow since crude traded for more than $100 a barrel seven years ago while the U.S. shale industry is reaping record profits. Signs posted outside the convention center in downtown Houston claimed for the city the mantle of “energy transition capital of the world.” But a paramount concern for management teams assembled inside was whether the industry is investing enough in new drilling to meet demand and stabilize prices. “Investment is the greatest challenge the oil industry faces today,” said John Hess, CEO at Hess Corp. “Oil and gas are going to be needed for the next 10 to 20 years and lot of it is going to be needed.” Grim Warning Saudi Aramco’s CEO warned of “chaos” unless governments stopped discouraging fossil-fuel investments. The Riyadh-based International Energy Forum called on companies to raise spending

Page 16 to $523 billion a year by the end of this decade to forestall an uncontrolled surge in energy prices and economic unrest. That message is unlikely to go down well with policymakers and environmentalists pushing for a stricter limits on emissions worldwide. But it’s also the new reality as the Northern Hemisphere heads into winter facing the specter of an energy squeeze and record price hikes. Focusing purely on supply-side actors won’t arrest climate change, Exxon Mobil Corp. CEO Darren Woods said in his opening speech to the conference’s 5,000 attendees. “Narrowly focusing and taking action on one aspect of the challenge could potentially lead to significant unintended consequences,” Woods said. “The best intentions poorly executed can do more harm than good.” Emission Targets American companies including Exxon and Chevron are much more focused on cleaning up their own emissions, so-called Scope 1 and 2, rather than those emanating from the use of their products. In contrast to most of their European peers, the U.S. drillers see those Scope 3 emissions, which represent the largest part of oil and gas pollution, as the responsibility of consumers. “This is a massive, massive challenge,” said Mark Little, CEO of Calgary-based Suncor Energy Inc.. “And everybody’s trying to solve that on the supply side and the demonization of the producers, but at what point are we going to have the real conversation?”
