Does?
A production company is a company responsible for the development and physical production
of new media, performing arts, film, radio or a television program. The company may also be
directly responsible for the raising of funding for the production.

The tasks a production company has to carry out;
• Budgeting – How much they can spend on the product
• Schedule Scripting- getting the production and learning of script on schedule
• Organisation of Staff- making sure all staff know what they are doing
• Talent Spotting- finding necessary candidates for the production
• Gathering of necessary resources- all resources needed for the production
• Marketing –making people aware of its existence
• Distribution- getting the product out there
• Post Production- evaluate decision making etc.
• Completion – overseeing the final product and making sure its on time
DreamWorks is an example of a production company as they produced films such as
Kung Fu Panda although they were distributed by Paramount Pictures.
4. Initial Ideas For Distributors!
A film distributor is usually a company that releases films once they have been
made by the production company. Is it the production companies duty to find the
right distributor depending on certain factors of the film e.g. The distributors
preferred genre.
The distributor we should use is Hammer Films, a UK based distributor who
specialises in thrillers and horrors whilst embracing its sub genre. Hammer films
has recently paired with Warner Bros. A well established American distributor
which will allow our film to reach a wider audience.
5. ‘Where's The Money At?’
Different films get funding from various organisations which would be
organised by ones production company.
For a film like ours, the UK Film Council could’ve funded our film as they
financially cover a wide range of factors needed to make a film successful.
They fund script development, film production, short films, film export
and distribution, cinemas, film education, culture and archives, festivals
and audience support schemes.

coincides with this.
7. More Like Me!
As our film is based on a myth which is open to interpretation, there is no film that
has direct similarities but films with similar factors of spiritual
sacrifice, witchcraft, religious imagery and evil omens. For example, The Craft, The
Omen and The Reaping.
