In process for bidding a project on anthropological study, AMP Hanoi is seeking two talented
and motivated Vietnamese consultants. If the bid is successful, the candidates will work as a
short term interviewers for the study in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in six weeks (July-
September, 2012):
Job Title: RESEARCH INTERVIEWER AND FACILITATOR
Report to: National anthropologist
Job purposes: This position will work under the national anthropologist to collect data by
conducting several interviews and focused group discussion with research population (patients,
family members, health practitioners, community health leaders, etc.) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh
City.
Major duties:
Collaborate with research coordinator to arrange interviews, meetings
Doing the interviews in the different study sites, according to the study protocol and tools
and in line with the training received
Proceeding to the data entry / transcription of the interviews
o Firstly in the language used during the interviews
o Secondly in English (to share with project team members)
Participating to potential study meetings organized on study members request
Oversee and manage field activities such as communication with research population,
interviewees’ withdrawal, etc. to ensure quality of data and timeline.
Collaborate with research team to provide explanation, clarification in data analysis and
reporting process.
Before the survey implementation, the interviewer will have to follow a training provided by
the national anthropologist on the tools and data collection methods and process specific to
this study.
All interviews have to be tape-recorded. The interviewer will provide all the tapes to the
national anthropologist after the transcription of the interviews, as well as the transcription of
2. these interviews in both languages (in word file format). The English version of the interview
transcription will be provided to the project team before the organization of the second round
of interviews, for revision. The project team will provide suggestions to the interviewers for
the second round of interviews.
Selection criteria:
Vietnamese citizen
Female candidate is required
Background in either anthropology, sociology or ethnology (preferably with master
degree)
Having experiences in conducting at least two qualitative studies in either of these fields
(anthropology, sociology or ethnology) in health
Experience with quantitative survey research including sampling, questionnaire design
Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Vietnamese required
