This document outlines the evolution of an idea for a website to help people find work abroad based on feedback received. It describes 5 prototypes created and sample survey results. Key lessons learned were that people don't want to pay for a job site and the idea was seen as similar to Monster.com. The document then details how the idea evolved from simplifying the international work process to a job portal focused on startups based on feedback. It concludes with lessons for future surveys and interviewing.

Work any where test & feedback- 10-28-13
1. Work AnyWhere
• Based on the feedbacks we’ve been receiving
we’ve made some continuous changes along
the way
• Based on feedback from over 30 individuals
– Via surveys, e-mails, and a few conversations with
friends
13. Some of the things we learned
• People don’t want to pay a fee for a job search
site when many others are free
• People compare us to Monster.com (a job search
site) even though we think of ourselves as a job
service site for internationals looking to live and
work abroad
• The quicker you ask and get feedback the quicker
you can learn and iterate your idea
– So ask early and ask often
• How you view and understand the value of your
idea may not be the same as how others see it
14. Evolution of our Idea
• Idea 1.0 – Simplify the process for people looking to work abroad
• Idea 2.0 – Because we cannot control immigration and legal
constraints maybe we can simplify by improving site navigation,
design, and enhanced visuals
• Idea 3.0 – Include information regarding local condition such as cost
of living, weather, language, etc.
• Idea 4.0 – Should we include all jobs or only jobs that are willing to
hire foreigners?
– The initial idea was designed for individuals looking to live and work
abroad so local jobs and jobs not interested in hiring foreigners would
not be included in our job portal
• Idea 5.0 – Due to the complexity of working abroad, immigration
constraints and lack of huge interest working abroad maybe we
should pivot and change it to a job portal for those looking to work
for startups
– Our differentiation would be a job catalog for those interested in
working for an entrepreneur, startup, or business still in its infancy
15. Lesson for future interviewers
• For surveys keep it short and simple
– The easier and fewer the questions the more likely
people will participate and fully complete
– Provide a quick intro about your work (context) so
people have a better idea what this is about
• How to find people to interview?
– If you do it on the street consider where you think
your target market shops, hangs out, or goes
– If you can’t find your target market, ask those closest
to you; friends, family, fellow classmates
