17. THE CURONIAN SPIT (orig. Kuršių nerija) IS A LONG SAND DUNE STRIP,
WHICH STRETCHES 98 KILOMETERS ALONG THE BALTIC SEA IN THE WESTERN PART
OF LITHUANIA.
52 kilometres of the Spit belongs to Republic of Lithuania, the rest part is Federation of
Russia (Kaliningrad region)
Neringa town was established here in 1961. It consists of 4 settlements:
Nida, Preila, Pervalka and Juodkrantė.
In order to preserve the valuable landscape complex-
