Install SharePoint 2010 on Windows 7 VHD Boot

2. Install Windows 7 Boot your machine with a blank hard drive using the Windows 7 DVD. Click next on the language screen if English is appropriate. SHIFT+F10 to launch a WinPE command console. Although the commands below are in upper case, the commands are not case sensitive. I am only using upper case for readability here. Enter DISKPART to run the utility. LIST DISK to see the available disks in your system. I am assuming a single raw disk. SEL DISK 0

Create VHD Disk CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK LIST VOL ASSIGN LIST VOL CREATE VDISK FILE=c:HDharePoint2010onWindows7.vhd MAXIMUM=40000 TYPE=EXPANDABLE SELECT VDISK FILE=c:HDharePoint2010onWindows7.vhd ATTACH VDISK CRE PART PRI FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK ASSIGN LETTER=V: LIST VOL LIST VDISK exit DISPART exit WinPE command console

12. Step 5 error System.ServiceProcess.TimeoutException: Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed

Solution Reason:In Step 5 basically installer is trying to start various services including search service and failed to start the SharePoint Search Server 14 or SharePoint Foundation Search v4.Solution:Manually start these services will fix the issue. If they are not getting started manually also then you might need to change the Identity to run the service to Local System.
14. Step 8 Error Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileException: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:00:59.9980468. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout.
16. Step 8 : allowInsecureTransport Failed to create sample data.An exception of type Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileException was thrown. Additional exception information: Unrecognized attribute 'allowInsecureTransport'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive. 18. Authentication Prompt Loopback Fix Host Headers in your SharePoint Deployments. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEYSTEMurrentControlSetontrolsa Right-click Lsa, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. Type DisableLoopbackCheck, and then press ENTER. Right-click DisableLoopbackCheck, and then click Modify. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.
