Journey to the visit
Riverstone
Eco Resort
Taylor’s
Lakeside
University
MY SITE
We
walked
deeper
into the
river to
look for a
nice and
soothing
spot which
had all the
elements
which was
land,
water,
wind and
sunlight as
well.
Findings at our site
A tortoise!
It was stuck hiding
around the between 2
huge rocks and
together, as a group we
managed to save it.
Unevenly shaped rocks
It was really rocky and the
journey there was quite
difficult but nevertheless, it
was an adventure.
It was kinda slippery
because of the algae.
Look how rough and uneven they
are!

MY ANIMAL/INSECT
WATER
BEETLE
Facts on the beetle
• Can only live in fresh water.
• Dark brown in colour.
• Has a hard shell (It’s upper wing)
• Has a segmented body.
• Particularly suited to live in water
•Exosckeleton animals.
• Hind legs used for swimming.
• Compound eyes.
• Streamlined shaped.
• 6 legs.
• 0.08 – 1.57 inches long.
• Smooth oval-shaped bodies.
• They bite
my sketch of the beetle
FOREWINGS :
• Solid
• Cannot be seen through.
• Covers lower wing.
• Almond shaped.
• Has lines on it.
•Aerolined to reduce friction in
water.
• Known as ELYTRA.
HINDWINGS :
• Thin, delicate and membranous.
• Has vein-like patterns on it.
• Is transparent.
• Folded beneath forewings.
• Used for flying.
• Produces a buzzing/humming sound.
BODY SEGMENTS :
1. HEAD – has compound
eyes and fillers which are
adapted for chewing
2. THORAX – wings and legs
are attached here, extends
from head to hind legs
(protonum)
3. ABDOMEN –
cylindrical/dome shaped,
has rings around it (like
beads) and is divided into 8
parts.
4. SCUTTELUM – Small
triangular shield connected
to the hindwings.

MY PLANT
THE
BAMBOO
Facts on the bamboo
• Has a hollow trunk.
• Fibrous trunk.
• Has an arrowshape leaf.
• Trunk is tough and strong.
• When trunk is dead it becomes hard.
• Leaves are soft and flimsy.
• Has grass taproots.
• Bamboo shoots can be eaten.
• Bamboo is used in scaffolding architecture.
• Chinese believe that they provide a lot of “chi” aka energy.
• Used for furniture.
• Fastest growing plant in the planet.
• Flexible and lightweight.
• Herbal medicine used in Asia.

bamboo
THE FIVE SENSES
TASTE
•Tasted the water.
•What it tasted like :
Tasted just like normal
mineral water.
•It was refreshing after a
long hot day as well.
• Tasted the food provided.
• Yummy especially after a long
day.
•Spicy, sour, sweet and salty!
Scent
The smell of soil/ mud/ earth.
Freshness of the dew drops
and leaves.
River water.
The smell of
salt (from the
sea water)
SIGHT
• Ants
• Water Beetles
• Fish
• A tortoise
• Some rubbish
laying around
• Trees
• Grass
•A lot of rocks
•Water flowing
•The clouds and the
sky
•The sunlight
•Sand
•Pebbles
•Water Striders
HEAR
• The movement of the water flow.
• Rocks getting hit by the current.
• The trees leaves swaying due to the wind.
• Water splashing.
• Crickets.
• Birds chirping.
FEEL&TOUCHFEEL :
• I felt happy to experience
something new.
• I also felt agitated by the heat
sometimes as well as the
pollution.
• Happy that I managed to
discover new things.
• Happy that I got to know and
learn more about nature and
what it has to offer.
• Happy that I was away from
technology and had actual
contact with nature, as well as
my peers and teachers.
• Relaxed especially during the
night when we all lied down
under the stars.
TOUCH :
• The bark of the trees.
• The water flowing.
• The leaves.
• The tortoise, it’s shell.
• The rocks and how rough it was.
• The algae on the rocks (slimy).
• The sand.
• The mud.
• The pebbles.
• This leaf! Which was furry..
ECOSYSTEM OF MY SITE
Through this experience, I’ve learnt about the
relationship between biotic and abiotic elements.
For example :
• The algae needs sunlight in order to undergo photosynthesis to produce
starch as it’s own source of food.
• The animals, (tortoise/fishes/tadpoles/snails) eat the algae and act as a
primary consumer.
• The bigger fishes/water beetle (carnivore) which is the secondary consumer
would then eat the fishes and thus, a food chain is formed.
The wind is also strong enough to allow pollination to occur.
Same goes to the movement of the water current.
The soil/mud is also moist enough for animals such as worms to stay in.
JOURNEY THERE!
