I have served as a senior marketing executive in the high technology space for 25 years, including 10 years in the Silicon Valley during the 90s. I've had my share of obstinate challenges and successful exits, and I've come to see marketing as the most critical, yet least understood and possibly most poorly practiced of the Corporate Arts.
That's why I recently left the comfort of the asylum to found my own agency - to bring the fart-fought lessons to the greater community. We don't need "Gurus" or "Pundits" or god help us "Visionaries", what our profession needs are people who can provide practical lessons on marking marketing work - organizationally, financially, and creatively.
