iTEC
Innovative Technologies for
Engaging Classrooms, 2010-2014
European Schoolnet worked with education
ministries, technology providers and research
organisations to transform the way that
technology is used in schools.
Over the course of the project, educational
tools and resources were piloted in over
2,500 classrooms across 20 European
countries, with the goal of providing a
sustainable model for fundamentally
redesigning teaching and learning.
The project involved 26 project
partners, including 14 Ministries of
Education, and funding of €9.45
million from the European
Commission’s FP7 programme. The
project ended in August 2014.
The current cycle of the iTEC project
will feature new Learning Activities
and Learning Stories. The purpose
of these new resources is to provide
pupils with opportunities for
collaboration, working with
technological tools, and real-world
applications for their lessons.
Developed by teachers from 15
countries across Europe, in
collaboration with policy makers,
pedagogical specialists and industry
experts, iTEC Learning Activities often
involve teamwork, use of technological
tools, and working outside of traditional
classroom environments.
They are highly flexible resources
teachers can integrate into their
classes, by choosing the learning
objectives, context, and delivery.
What are scenarios in iTEC?
iTEC scenarios are short
narrative descriptions of
preferable learning contexts
which are set within a model
learning environment.
The intention is to both inspire
teachers and provide them with the
tools and training to carry out new
practices which facilitate more
engaging classrooms.
