2. The terrestrial resource issue I have created a
management and sustainment plan for is solid
waste. Solid waste is a large issue all over the
world. There are many ways that I can help
my community to cut down on the amount of
solid waste that we generate.
3. The item to be addressed is solid waste. Solid
waste is garbage, tires, cans, plastics, and some
metals. One thing I can do is research the topic
and then develop a plan to cut down on the
amount of waste the community is disposing
of. Once I have a plan in place, I can arrange a
presentation and schedule a time to meet with
fellow community members.
4. The first thing I would do is research the effects
of solid waste in the environment, then
develop a strategy for educating the
community. Once I have a solid plan in place I
can schedule a time and date to meet with
other community members. Once this has been
done I would publicly invite the community to
join me for this educational session.
5. The most important part of this plan is securing
the location of the meeting. I can go to the city
council and request to address this issue. Once
this is done I can then invite the members of
the community to hear my presentation. The
presentation will include recycling information,
landfill information, and waste management
information. I will gather all the information I
can from the cities resources to share with the
community.
6. The research for this presentation will take
approximately one full month to get all of the
data needed to devise a plan. Once the
research is finished it will take another month
to organize a plan of attack. Once this item has
been introduced to the community we will give
it three months to be fully implemented. Once
we implement the plan we will spend another
two months evaluating the results, and
feedback from the community and the city.
7. Solid waste plays a major role in today’s
environmental issues. Consumers are faced
with the issue of disposing of waste on a daily
basis and often don’t fully understand their
options. My plan will help the community to
understand how to make their community a
better place.
Notes de l'éditeur
There are many terrestrial resources that affect the environment today. I chose solid waste because this continues to be a major threat to the environment. The biggest way to cut down on the waste is to recycle. There are so many products that people don’t realize can be recycled.
People don’t understand that by throwing away items that can be recycled they are actually hurting the environment. When you see people dump tires on the side of the road those don’t decompose easily. They can be broken down and recycled. It is also saving consumers money to do this because recycled tires are less expensive. By having the community recycle their paper, cans, and plastics we can easily work on our community environment.
Making sure the plan is solid and ready for presentation is very hard to do. Once you have put together your presentation you should have a couple of people go over to make sure it is ready before inviting the community to listen.
When securing your location you want to make sure you can accommodate the right amount of people so you can present all at once. When addressing the city council you need to be specific about your topic and submit the presentation for review. Once it is approved you can then invite the community out to hear you.
A timeline is very important when devising a plan and executing it. You don’t want to get away from the timeline because that is where mistakes happen. When following up and getting feedback you have to take the good with bad. Not everybody will have the same opinion as you do.
The bottom line is there is only one earth and we have to protect it. What happens today does not just affect us, it affects many generations to come. If we don’t get a preservation plan together and start executing it, our children and grandchildren will suffer.
