2. Isaiah 62:1-5 For Zion's sake I will not hold My
peace, And for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, Until
her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her
salvation as a lamp that burns. (2) The Gentiles shall
see your righteousness, And all kings your glory.
YOU SHALL BE CALLED BY A NEW NAME, Which
the mouth of the LORD will name. (3) You shall also
be a crown of glory In the hand of the LORD, And a
royal diadem In the hand of your God. (4) You shall
no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land
any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be
called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For the
LORD delights in you, And your land shall be
married. (5) For as a young man marries a virgin, So
shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom
rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice
over you.
3. CHRISTIANS
A. The term “Christian” is used three times in
the bible.
1. Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he
brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a
whole year they assembled with the church
and taught a great many people. And the
disciples were first called Christians in
Antioch.
2. Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You
almost persuade me to become a Christian."
3. 1 Peter 4:16 Yet if anyone suffers as a
Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let
him glorify God in this matter.
B. What is a Christian?
4. I. SONS OF GOD
A.John 1:12 But as many as received
Him, to them He gave the right to
become children of God, to those who
believe in His name:
B.Romans 8:14 For as many as are led
by the Spirit of God, these are sons of
God.
5. II. SAINTS OF GOD
A.1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God
which is at Corinth, to those who are
sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be
saints, with all who in every place call on
the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both
theirs and ours:
6. II. SAINTS OF GOD
B. Ephesians 5:1-7 Therefore be imitators of God
as dear children. (2) And walk in love, as Christ
also has loved us and given Himself for us, an
offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-
smelling aroma. (3) But fornication and all
uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be
named among you, as is fitting for saints; (4)
neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse
jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of
thanks. (5) For this you know, that no fornicator,
unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an
idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of
Christ and God. (6) Let no one deceive you with
empty words, for because of these things the
wrath of God comes upon the sons of
disobedience. (7) Therefore do not be partakers
with them.
7. III. SERVANTS OF GOD
A. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 Let a man so
consider us, as servants of Christ and
stewards of the mysteries of God. (2)
Moreover it is required in stewards that
one be found faithful.
B. Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus
Christ, which God gave Him to show His
servants--things which must shortly take
place. And He sent and signified it by His
angel to His servant John.
8. IV. SHARERS OF GOD
A. 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that you
have heard from me among many
witnesses, commit these to faithful men
who will be able to teach others also.
B. Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching
them to observe all things that I have
commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age."
Amen.
9. V. SOLDIERS OF GOD
A. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 3 You therefore must endure
hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4
No one engaged in warfare entangles himself
with the affairs of this life, that he may please
him who enlisted him as a soldier.
B. Ephesians 6:10-12 10 Finally, my brethren, be
strong in the Lord and in the power of His
might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to stand against the wiles of
the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against
flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts
of wickedness in the heavenly places.
10. VI. STEWARDS OF GOD
A.1 Corinthians 4:1-2 Let a man so
consider us, as servants of Christ and
stewards of the mysteries of God. (2)
Moreover it is required in stewards that
one be found faithful.
B.1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received
a gift, minister it to one another, as
good stewards of the manifold grace of
God.
11. VII. SALT OF GOD
A.Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth;
but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it
be seasoned? It is then good for nothing
but to be thrown out and trampled
underfoot by men.
B.Colossians 4:5-6 Walk in wisdom toward
those who are outside, redeeming the time.
(6) Let your speech always be with grace,
seasoned with salt, that you may know
how you ought to answer each one.
12. VIII. SUFFERERS OF GOD
A. 2 Timothy 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live
godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
B. 1 Peter 2:19-21 For this is commendable, if
because of conscience toward God one
endures grief, suffering wrongfully. (20) For
what credit is it if, when you are beaten for
your faults, you take it patiently? But when
you do good and suffer, if you take it
patiently, this is commendable before God.
(21) For to this you were called, because
Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that you should follow His steps:
13. IX. SOJOURNERS OF GOD
A.1 Peter 2:11-12 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and
pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against
the soul, (12) having your conduct honorable among
the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as
evildoers, they may, by your good works which they
observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.
B.Hebrews 11:13-16 These all died in faith, not having
received the promises, but having seen them afar off
were assured of them, embraced them and confessed
that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
(14) For those who say such things declare plainly
that they seek a homeland. (15) And truly if they had
called to mind that country from which they had
come out, they would have had opportunity to return.
(16) But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly
country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called
their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
14. X. SUBMITTERS OF GOD
A.James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist
the devil and he will flee from you.
B.Romans 10:2-3 For I bear them witness
that they have a zeal for God, but not
according to knowledge. (3) For they being
ignorant of God's righteousness, and
seeking to establish their own
righteousness, have not submitted to the
righteousness of God.
C.Ephesians 5:21 submitting to one another
in the fear of God.
15. X. SUBMITTERS OF GOD
D.Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit to your own
husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
E. 1 Peter 2:13-14 Therefore submit
yourselves to every ordinance of man for
the Lord's sake, whether to the king as
supreme, (14) or to governors, as to those
who are sent by him for the punishment of
evildoers and for the praise of those who
do good.
